Nanomaterials for Allergy Diagnosis and Treatment: Advances, Opportunities and Translational Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nanomaterials offer dual applications in allergy management. For diagnosis, nanomaterials enhance analytical sensitivity and improve detection in specific IgE and functional assays such as the basophil activation test (BAT). For allergen‐specific immunotherapy, nanomaterials enable allergen masking and controlled release, and effectively modulate the ...

Characterization of Relevant Bovine Dander Allergen Components

open access: yesJournal of Investigational Allergology and Clinical Immunology
Background: Diagnostic tests in occupational allergic diseases are highly dependent on the quality of available allergen extracts and specific IgE tests. To enhance diagnostic testing in cattle-related occupational rhinitis, asthma, and urticaria, we produced an in- house cow dander extract, assessed its allergen profile and performance in clinical ...

Membrane‐Active Peptide Protects Against Inflammation by Targeting NLRP3 Activation at the Trans‐Golgi Network

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The membrane‐active peptide Pep19‐2.5 reduces harmful inflammation by blocking activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome at trans‐Golgi network membranes. By targeting key membrane interactions, Pep19‐2.5 suppresses inflammatory IL‐1β production and alleviates allergic airway inflammation in mice, leading to reduced immune cell infiltration and improved ...

SAT1‐Induced Spermidine Depletion Potentiates Food Allergy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Spermidine depletion, driven by upregulated spermidine/spermine N1‐acetyltransferase (SAT1), potentiates food allergy by promoting mast cell degranulation through autophagy suppression. SAT1 physically interacts with the long noncoding RNA Cdk19os to inhibit Atg5 and Atg7, disrupting autophagic flux.

Leptin May Promote Eosinophilic CRSwNP Progression by Enhancing Eosinophil Chemotaxis and Angiogenesis Under a Type 2 Inflammatory Milieu

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyp (CRSwNP) is a heterogeneous Type 2 inflammatory disease characterized by enhanced eosinophilic infiltration. Both innate and adaptive immunity are involved in the onset and progression of CRSwNP.

Modulating Th2 Cell Immunity for the Treatment of Asthma

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2021
It is estimated that more than 339 million people worldwide suffer from asthma. The leading cause of asthma development is the breakdown of immune tolerance to inhaled allergens, prompting the immune system's aberrant activation.

Female‐Specific Risk of TAS2R Variants in Chronic Rhinosinusitis: A Hospital‐Based Cohort Study From the Taiwan Precision Medicine Initiative

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Bitter taste receptors (T2Rs) function in the innate immune defense of the sinonasal mucosa; however, the genetic association between the TAS2R gene family and chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) remains understudied in Asian populations.
