Purification of the alliin lyase of garlic, Allium sativum L. [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1968
1. Alliin lyase (EC 4.4.1.4) was purified up to sevenfold from garlic-bulb homogenates. The enzyme was unstable to storage at −10°, particularly in dilute concentrations, but the addition of glycerol (final concentration 10%, v/v) stabilized the activity completely for at least 30 days. 2. The purified enzyme had an optimum pH for activity at 6·5.

Green Fuel Combustion Synthesis of CeO2 and Ag/CeO2 Nanoparticles for Photocatalytic and Antibacterial Applications

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Silver‐doped cerium oxide nanoparticles (Ag/CeO2 NPs) were synthesized using Ricinus communis seed extract as a bio‐derived fuel in a solution combustion method. The combustion reaction, carried out at 450°C with AgNO3 and (NH4)2[Ce (NO3)6] as metal precursors, produced CeO2 and Ag/CeO2 NPs.

Monoterpenes: Functional Additives for Reducing Antibiotics in Aquaculture

open access: yesReviews in Aquaculture, Volume 18, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Aquaculture is a rapidly growing industry that supplies fish for global consumption. However, the intensive production practices have resulted in disease outbreaks, largely driven by the misuse of antibiotics. Natural alternatives, such as monoterpenes, which are biocompounds derived from essential oils obtained from plants like thyme and ...
