Dynamic regulation of phenylalanine hydroxylase

open access: yesPteridines, 2014
Phenylalanine hydroxylase (PAH) is the key enzyme in phenylalanine metabolism, catalyzing its oxidative breakdown to tyrosine. Its function in the committed step of amino acid metabolism requires strict regulation. Thus, several regulatory mechanisms are

Modeling the contribution of allosteric regulation for flux control in the central carbon metabolism of E. coli

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2015
Modeling metabolism is fundamental for cell factory design. Central carbon metabolism (CCM) is particularly important as it provides the energy and precursors for other biological processes.

Rapid and Ultra‐Sensitive SARS‐CoV‐2 Subgenomic RNA Detection Using Single‐Molecule With a Large Transistor‐SiMoT Bioelectronic Platform

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
The single‐molecule with a large transistor‐SiMoT is proposed for the detection of the subgenomic RNA of SARS‐CoV‐2, achieving a diagnostic sensitivity of 98.0% and a specificity of 87.8%. The SiMoT technology, currently at TRL‐5, is suitable for point‐of‐care settings and delivers the result to the end user in 30 min.

The nature of the inhibition and activation of epidermal phosphofructokinase: an allosteric enzyme.

open access: yesJournal of Investigative Dermatology, 1972
Phosphofructokinase (PFK) was partially purified (× 50) from rhesus monkey epidermis. Kinetic studies showed a biphasic regulation of this enzyme by ATP, i.e., activation at low concentrations and inhibition at high concentrations. The partially purified

The Expanding Clinical and Genetic Spectrum of Muscle Glycogen Storage Disease 0, (GSD0B)

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Glycogen storage disorders are a group of genetic disorders affecting glucose homeostasis in the body. Muscular glycogen stores are essential for liberating glucose for energy supply during bursts of activity and sustained muscle work. Muscle glycogen storage disease 0 (GSD0B) is associated with biallelic variants in GYS1 causing muscular ...

Prediction and confirmation of a switch-like region within the N-terminal domain of hSIRT1

open access: yesBiochemistry and Biophysics Reports, 2022
Many proteins display conformational changes resulting from allosteric regulation. Often only a few residues are crucial in conveying these structural and functional allosteric changes.

Longitudinal Analysis of Neuroradiological Biomarkers for Fragile X‐Associated Tremor/Ataxia Syndrome and Implications for Clinical Trials

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective The objective of this study was to show the capacity of structural brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) measures to serve as monitoring biomarkers for Fragile X‐Associated Tremor/Ataxia Syndrome (FXTAS). Methods From 2 longitudinal studies of male FMR1 premutation carriers, 2 brain MRI scans were selected from each participant, collected ...
