Synthesis, Characterization, and Biological Evaluation of Co(II), Cu(II), and Ni(II) Complexes With 2,2′‐Bipyridine‐5,5′‐Dicarboxamide Ligands: Antibacterial and Enzyme Inhibition Studies

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 7, July 2026.
Synthesis of novel trinuclear [M3L2] complexes based on 5,5’‐regiochemistry is reported. Co‐L2 emerges as a potent lead with significant broad‐spectrum antibacterial activity. Ni‐L2 proves highly effective for pancreatic lipase and BChE inhibition, while the free L2 ligand exhibits superior AChE inhibitory potency.

Recovering Critical Elements From Wastewater for Battery Materials: A Review

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Driven by global carbon neutrality goals, the transition toward a circular economy and sustainable resource management has become increasingly imperative. Given the indispensable role of battery technologies in modern energy storage systems, strategic elements such as lithium (Li), cobalt (Co), and nickel (Ni)—identified by the European ...

Cell‐Free Protein Synthesis in Porous Parylene Scaffolds

open access: yesSmall Methods, Volume 10, Issue 13, 8 July 2026.
The CinPP system, embedding CFPS machineries within porous parylene, is proposed as a novel platform for in vitro protein synthesis, overcoming previous limitations related to processability, structuring integration, and storage stability. By introducing porous parylene as a replacement for aqueous medium via CVD, CinPP paves the way for expanded bio ...

Comparative Ionomics of Lycopodiaceae and Selaginellaceae Across Diverse Soil Types in Japan

open access: yesEcological Research, Volume 41, Issue 4, July 2026.
We conducted a comparative ionomic analysis of Lycopodiaceae and Selaginellaceae collected from diverse soil types in Japan, including serpentine soils and solfatara fields, to examine how evolutionary lineage and soil environment shape elemental composition in lycophytes.

Thermodynamic Reassessment of the FeO–Fe2O3–MgO–SiO2 System Integrated With Experimental Phase Equilibria Studies

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Phase equilibria studies were undertaken on the FeO–FeO1.5–MgO and FeO–FeO1.5–MgO–SiO2 systems using equilibration and quenching technique followed by the electron probe x‐ray microanalysis (EPMA). The primary phase fields of spinel (Fe,Mg)Fe2O4, monoxide (Mg,Fe)O1+x, olivine (Mg,Fe)2SiO4, pyroxene (Mg,Fe)SiO3 (proto, ortho, and clino ...
