Repeated Independent Formation of Triploid Lineages Contributes to Clonal Diversity in Heteronotia binoei Parthenogens

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 35, Issue 2, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Parthenogenesis, or all‐female clonal reproduction, is rare among vertebrates. This is often attributed to the selective disadvantages of assumed reduction of genetic diversity in the absence of sex. However, parthenogenetic vertebrates have highly complex evolutionary histories, with most arising through hybridisation and many being polyploid.

Ecotypic and allozyme variation of Capsella bursa-pastoris and C. rubella (Brassicaceae) along latitude and altitude gradients on the Iberian Peninsula

open access: yesAnales del Jardín Botánico de Madrid, 1999
Life-history traits (onset of flowering, leaf number, rosette diameter, plant height, branching number, fruit dimensions, seed number) of Capsella species from the Iberian Península associated with colotúzing ability were compared in a random block field

Determination of population structure and stock composition of chum salmon (Oncorhynchus keta) in Russia determined with microsatellites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Variation at 14 microsatellite loci was examined in 34 chum salmon (Oncorhynchus keta) populations from Russia and evaluated for its use in the determination of population structure and stock composition in simulated mixed-stock fishery samples.

Conservation Challenges Under Taxonomic Uncertainty: Introgression Patterns and Environmental Correlates in Mediterranean Brown Trout

open access: yesAquatic Conservation: Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems, Volume 35, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT The Mediterranean brown trout (Salmo trutta species complex) comprises genetically and ecologically distinct lineages primarily distributed across the Western Mediterranean region. Conservation of the Mediterranean brown trout is complicated by unresolved taxonomy.

Effects of Habitat Fragmentation on Genetic Diversity in Cycas Balansae (Cycadaceae)

open access: yesASEAN Journal on Science and Technology for Development, 2017
Habitat fragmentation is a serious threat to species survival. In Vietnam, Cycas balansae has been considered as threatened species because of the reduction and fragmentation of its habitats and over-exploitation.

Comparative Phylogeography of Phrynosomatid Lizards in Baja California: Asynchronous Divergences and Expansion of Callisaurus draconoides Across the North American Deserts

open access: yesJournal of Biogeography, Volume 52, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Aim We tested whether co‐distributed phrynosomatid lizards in the Baja California Peninsula (BCP) share synchronous phylogeographic discontinuities, as predicted by the “peninsular archipelago” hypothesis, and examined the diversification of Callisaurus draconoides throughout its range.

Thematic Layers of Genomic Susceptibility for Conservation Monitoring

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 34, Issue 23, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Population genomics has great potential to inform applied conservation management and associated policy. However, the bioinformatic analyses and interpretation of population genomic datasets can be daunting and difficult to convey to nonspecialists, including on‐the‐ground conservationists that work with many state, federal and international ...

Biodiversity Genomics Research Practices Require Harmonising to Meet Stakeholder Needs in Conservation

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 34, Issue 23, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Biodiversity resilience relies on genetic diversity, which sustains the evolutionary potential of organisms in dynamic ecosystems. Genomics is a powerful tool for accurately estimating genetic diversity across genomes of species and populations.

Genetic variability in Astyanax altiparanae Garutti & Britski, 2000 (Teleostei, Characidae) from the Upper Paraná River basin, Brazil

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology, 2005
Allozyme data was used to assess the genetic diversity Astyanax altiparanae populations from the floodplain of the Upper Paraná River (PR). Specimens were collected in the southern Brazilian state of Paraná from PR in Porto Rico municipality and Ribeirão
