Almost difference sets and reversible divisible difference sets

Archiv der Mathematik, 1992
Almost difference sets are divisible difference sets with the property that \(\lambda_ 1\) and \(\lambda_ 2\) differ by 1 (they would be difference sets if \(\lambda_ 1=\lambda_ 2\)). Two constructions are given. The first set of parameters are \((4,3^{2a},2(3^{2a}-3^ a),3^{2a}- 2\cdot 3^ a,3^{2a}-2\cdot 3^ a+ 1)\), and these are similar to \((4\cdot 3^

Some new almost difference sets via finite fields

ACM Communications in Computer Algebra, 2015
Several investigations on antenna arrays focus on the “thinning” problem wherein one would like to reduce the number of array elements with respect to the original filled layouts. The rationale to do so is to economize costs, weight, consumption of power etc.

Almost Difference Sets in Transformational Music Theory

2017
The combinatorial theory of difference sets has prior applications in the field of mathematical music theory. The theory of almost difference sets, however, has not received similar attention from music scholars. Nevertheless, these types of structures also have significant musical applications.

MIMO radar array thinning using almost difference sets

2016 10th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP), 2016
In this paper, minimum redundancy multiple-input multiple-output (MR-MIMO) arrays - a class of thinned antenna arrays - are discussed. The concepts of MR-MIMO array design and almost difference sets (ADSs) are introduced, and an analytical method based on ADSs is proposed for MR-MIMO array designs.

Construction of binary almost perfect sequences based on extended cyclic difference sets

1998 International Zurich Seminar on Broadband Communications. Accessing, Transmission, Networking. Proceedings (Cat. No.98TH8277), 2002
Sequences with noise-like characteristics are required for symbol synchronization, signal detection, signal estimation, spectrum spreading and secrecy coding. Periodic binary sequences exhibiting zero out-of-phase autocorrelation except one value in the middle are studied here. They are based mainly on cyclic difference sets D with parameters (v,k,/spl
