The role of histone modifications in transcription regulation upon DNA damage

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review discusses the critical role of histone modifications in regulating gene expression during the DNA damage response (DDR). By modulating chromatin structure and recruiting repair factors, these post‐translational modifications fine‐tune transcriptional programmes to maintain genomic stability.

Le feu et les étoiles : une exploration distributionnelle à partir du corpus ASJP

open access: yesCorela
This paper focuses on the glosses “fire” and “star.” It first presents a distributional analysis of phonemic trigrams extracted from the ASJP corpus, based on stable lexical glosses in the languages of Africa, Papua, Australia, and Eurasia.

Evaluating eukaryotic secreted protein prediction

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2005
Background Improvements in protein sequence annotation and an increase in the number of annotated protein databases has fueled development of an increasing number of software tools to predict secreted proteins.

Precise pointing knowledge for SCIAMACHY solar occultation measurements [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques, 2012
We present a method to precisely determine the viewing direction for solar occultation instruments from scans over the solar disk. Basic idea is the fit of the maximum intensity during the scan, which corresponds to the center of the solar disk in the ...

A model for the force stretching double-stranded chain molecules

open access: yes, 2002
We modify and extend the recently developed statistical mechanical model for predicting the thermodynamic properties of chain molecules having noncovalent double-stranded conformations, as in RNA or ssDNA, and $\beta-$sheets in protein, by including the ...

Quasi β-power increasing sequences

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2004
We prove a theorem of Mazhar (1999) on |N¯,pn|k summability factors under weaker conditions by using a quasi β-power increasing sequence instead of an almost increasing sequence.

Substrate specificity of Burkholderia pseudomallei multidrug transporters is influenced by the hydrophilic patch in the substrate‐binding pocket

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Multidrug transporters BpeB and BpeF from the Gram‐negative pathogen Burkholderia pseudomallei have a hydrophilic patch in their substrate‐binding pocket. Drug susceptibility tests and growth curve analyses using an Escherichia coli recombinant expression system revealed that the hydrophilic patches of BpeB and BpeF are involved in the substrate ...

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

The Interplay between Syllabic Duration and Melody to Indicate Prosodic Functions in Brazilian Portuguese Story Retelling

open access: yesLanguages
This paper investigates the relationship between syllabic duration and F0 contours for implementing three prosodic functions. Work on rhythm usually describes the evolution of syllable-sized durations throughout utterances, rarely making reference to ...
