Absolutely continuous spectrum for one-dimensional Schr\"odinger operators with slowly decaying potentials: some optimal results

open access: yes, 1997
The absolutely continuous spectrum of one-dimensional Schr\"odinger operators is proved to be stable under perturbation by potentials satisfying mild decay conditions.

Firing map of an almost periodic input function [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In mathematical biology and the theory of electric networks the firing map of an integrate-and-fire system is a notion of importance. In order to prove useful properties of this map authors of previous papers assumed that the stimulus function f of the ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

On the transformation semitopological semigroup

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper we introduce the notion of weighted (weakly) almost periodic compactifcation of a semitopological semigroup and generalize this notion to corresponding notion for transformation semigroup. The inclusion relation and equality of some well ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Uniformly Asymptotic Stability of Positive Almost Periodic Solutions for a Discrete Competitive System

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2013
This paper is devoted to the study of almost periodic solutions of a discrete two-species competitive system. With the help of the methods of the Lyapunov function, some analysis techniques, and preliminary lemmas, we establish a criterion for the ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Refinements of G\'al's theorem and applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We give a simple proof of a well-known theorem of G\'al and of the recent related results of Aistleitner, Berkes and Seip [1] regarding the size of GCD sums.

A comparison of estimators for the two-point correlation function

open access: yes, 2000
Nine of the most important estimators known for the two-point correlation function are compared using a predetermined, rigorous criterion. The indicators were extracted from over 500 subsamples of the Virgo Hubble Volume simulation cluster catalog. The ``

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.
