Tolerance of blackgrass (Alopecurus myosuroide) to sylfonylurea herbicides in the Czech Republic
Seeds of three blackgrass populations fromSouthern Bohemiawere collected in 2007-2008. Biological tests with chlorsulfuron were performed at the 2-3 leaf stage. Some plants survived after treatment with the highest dose 37.5 g/ha. Biological tests showed

Effects of weeds on yield and determination of economic thresholds for site-specific weed control using sensor technology [PDF]
Weeds can cause high yield losses. Knowledge about the weeds occurring, their distribution within fields and their effects on the crop yield is important to achieve effective weed control.

ABSTRACT The grass species Alopecurus myosuroides Huds., Lolium multiflorum Lam. and Bromus sterilis L. are abundant and dominant weeds in European winter wheat fields. They cause significant yield losses and impede grain harvest. Many populations of these grass weeds are resistant to one or more herbicide modes of action in Europe.

Atlantis FLEX (BAY 22010 H) – a new herbicide in cereals with efficacy against grasses
Atlantis FLEX (Mesosulfuron-methyl; Propoxycarbazone-sodium; Mefenpyr-diethyl) is a new cereal herbicide to control blackgrass (Alopecurus myosuroides), ryegrass (Lolium spec.), brome grass (Bromus spec.), wild oat (Avena fatua), loose silky-bentgrass ...

The arable farmer as the assessor of within-field soil variation [PDF]
Feasible, fast and reliable methods of mapping within-field variation are required for precision agriculture. Within precision agriculture research much emphasis has been put on technology, whereas the knowledge that farmers have and ways to explore it ...

ABSTRACT Among the agroecological practices that can be used for sustainable weed management, legume living mulches (LLMs) are receiving increasing attention. This study provides a detailed report on how different LLMs established in durum wheat affected the weed community composition and diversity during the fallow period in a wheat–sorghum crop ...

Insights into ALS‐inhibiting herbicide resistance in Poa annua in an arable cropping system
Variable cross‐resistance to ALS inhibitors in five Poa annua populations from wheat fields in Ireland caused by different TSR mutations. Abstract BACKGROUND Dependence on a single herbicide type to control a broad‐spectrum of weeds has resulted in cases of resistance to acetolactate synthase (ALS) inhibitors in weeds normally considered lower priority

Herbicide Cross-Resistance in Slender Foxtail (Alopecurus myosuroides)
The resistance of four populations of slender foxtail from England to chlorotoluron, pendimethalin, and the methyl ester of diclofop was studied in whole-plant spray assays. Two populations showed cross-resistance to all three herbicides while a third showed resistance to chlorotoluron only.

This study identifies pollen from over 100 plant species—including wildflowers, food and crops—carried by hoverflies alighting onto an oilrig 200 km off the coast during seasonal migrations. Analysis of their movements indicates a huge potential to enhance long distance gene flow between plants and increase pollination services.
