Validation of burst overlapping for ALOS-2 PALSAR-2 ScanSAR-ScanSAR interferometry

SPIE Proceedings, 2016
The Phased Array type L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar-2 (PALSAR-2) aboard the Advanced Land Observing Satellite- 2 (ALOS-2, "DAICHI-2") is the latest L-band spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR). PALSAR-2 observes the world mainly with 10 m resolution / 70 km swath Stripmap mode and 25 m resolution / 350 km swath ScanSAR mode.

Emergency observation and its analysis using ALOS-2 PALSAR-2 in 2015

SPIE Proceedings, 2016
Advanced Land Observing Satellite-2 (ALOS-2, "DAICHI-2") performed various emergency observation with its Phased Array type L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar-2 (PALSAR-2) in Asia in 2015. Especially for corresponding to the emergency request from Sentinel Asia related to the Mw 7.8 Gorkha Nepal Earthquake 2015, PALSAR-2 successfully detected not only the

Observation of ground deformation in the Osaka and Kanto plains with ALOS-2/PALSAR-2

2016 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2016
We have studied ground deformation in the Osaka and Kanto plains, Japan, using ALOS/PALSAR and revealed unique deformations related to active faults. In order to clarify their evolution after 2011, we analyzed strip-map mode images of ALOS-2/PALSAR-2 acquired during 2014–2015. In Osaka, we did not find deformation observed before 2011 such as uplift in

Regenerated ALOS-2/PALSAR-2 global mosaics 2016 and 2014/2015 for forest observations

2017 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2017
ALOS-2/PALSAR-2 25-m spaced global mosaic has been produced as the L-band SAR forest monitoring dataset selected from the best acquisitions over the global land and year 2014 and 2015, as the resume of the dataset after pausing the ALOS/PALSAR on 2011 April 22, in the end of 2015.

Mitigation of Faraday rotation in ALOS-2/PALSAR-2 full polarimetric SAR imageries

SPIE Proceedings, 2016
The ionosphere, which extends from 50-450 kms in earth’s atmosphere, is a particularly important region with regards electromagnetic wave propagation and radio communications in the L-band and lower frequencies. These ions interact with the traversing electromagnetic wave and cause rotation of polarization of the radar signal.

Estimation of Reinforced Slope Dynamics Using ALOS-2/ PALSAR-2 and Validation by Terrestrial Laser Scanner

IGARSS 2020 - 2020 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2020
The purpose of this study was to validate InSAR-derived ground deformation results for study areas with reinforced slopes using field surveys obtained by a terrestrial laser scanner (TLS). Three field survey sites in south Chiba prefecture, Japan, were employed in this study.

Investigating the capabilities of new microwave ALOS-2/PALSAR-2 data for biomass estimation

SPIE Proceedings, 2016
Most studies indicate that L-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR) has a great capacity to estimate biomass due to its ability to penetrate deeply through canopy layers. Many applications using L-band space-borne data have showcased their own significant contribution in biomass estimation but some limitations still exist.

Stock Volume Loss Estimation in Poplars using Regression Models and ALOS-2/PALSAR-2 backscatter

IGARSS 2019 - 2019 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2019
Stock volume is an important forest inventory parameter. In case of agro-forests and plantation forests, stock volume estimates are important as they provide reliable indicator of the productivity of these species. In this study stock volume loss due to harvest of polar plantations between 2017 and 2018 are estimated using ALOS-2/PALSAR-2 backscatter ...
