Reduced Alpha-2-Antiplasmin Levels in the Nephrotic Syndrome

Nephron, 2008
Venous and arterial thromboembolism frequently complicate the nephrotic syndrome. Increased platelet aggregation, high levels of fibrinogen and other procoagulants, and depressed levels of antithrombin III and plasminogen are commonly cited as reasons.

The effects of alpha 2-antiplasmin complex and alpha 2-antiplasmin on the secretion of IgG and IgM by cultured human mononuclear cells.

Journal of clinical & laboratory immunology, 1998
We tested alpha 2-antiplasmin (AP) and its complex with plasmin (PL) for their capacity to modulate spontaneous secretion of immunoglobulins (Ig) G and M by mononuclear cells (MNC). MNC were obtained from peripheral blood of 10 donors (5 males and 5 females) and cultured for 7 days in the presence of various concentrations of AP and AP-PL complex.

Relationship between Elevated Fibrinopeptide A Levels and Alpha-2-Antiplasmin

Haemostasis, 2009
In order to investigate whether α2-antiplasmin (α2-AP) levels may be related to thrombin activity, we measured α2-AP and fibrinopeptide A (FPA) in 51 patients with clinical conditions frequently associated with increased thrombin activity.

[Alpha 2-antiplasmin in childhood].

Folia haematologica (Leipzig, Germany : 1928), 1982
In 119 children, predominantly newborns and babies with sepsis, alpha 2-Antiplasmin was determined by the use of the chromogenic substrate S-2251. In healthy newborns, the inhibitor level averaged 65 per cent of the adult level. Already in the initial phase of sepsis, enhanced alpha 2-antiplasmin values were observed.

The alpha-2-antiplasmin Arg407Lys polymorphism is associated with Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

Thrombosis Research, 2014
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) involves dilatation of the abdominal aorta, with a natural history of expansion and eventual rupture. We have previously shown that AAA patients form denser clots with smaller pores, which are more resistant to fibrinolysis.

A familial hemorrhagic diathesis in a Dutch family: an inherited deficiency of alpha 2-antiplasmin [PDF]

open access: yesBlood, 1982
Abstract This study concerns a case of congenital homozygous deficiency in alpha 2-antiplasmin associated with a severe hemorrhagic diathesis. Heterozygous family members also show a mild bleeding tendency. The propositus is a 17-yr-old male born of white parents and showing a severe hemorrhagic diathesis characterized by spontaneous ...

Alpha-2-antiplasmin: a serpin with two separate but overlapping reactive sites

Science, 1988
Although the proteinase inhibitor alpha-2-antiplasmin (α 2 AP) is known to control the activity of plasmin through rapid formation of stable complexes, it also efficiently inactivates chymotrypsin. These interactions are shown to occur at adjacent, overlapping sites so that plasmin attacks the inhibitor at an Arg

Amino-acid sequence of human alpha 2-antiplasmin.

European journal of biochemistry, 1987
The amino-acid sequence of human alpha 2-antiplasmin was determined by Edman degradation of peptides purified from CNBr, tryptic and chymotryptic digests. Of the total sequence of 452 amino acids of mature alpha 2-antiplasmin, as deduced from the cDNA sequence [Holmes et al. (1987) J. Biol. Chem.

[Alpha 2-antiplasmin in bovine plasma].

Ukrainskii biokhimicheskii zhurnal (1978), 1985
Bovine and human blood plasma contains alpha 2-antiplasmin which possesses affinity to lysin-binding sites in plasmin and inhibits the human plasmin. Its isolation was conducted for two stages: separation of plasminogen on lysin-cellulose, fractionation by ammonium sulphate, desalination on molselector G-25, chromatography on DEAE-Sephadex A-50 and ...

Appropriate Milieu for the Assay of Alpha-2-Antiplasmin Activity with Chromogenic Substrates

Haemostasis, 2009
Inhibition reference curves for α2-antiplasmin showed a deviation from linearity at low inhibitor concentrations using the chromogenic substrate S-2251. Extrapolation of these curves to zero inhibition gave higher amidolytic activities than actually recorded with the free enzyme plasmin.
