Endocrine secretion of alpha-amylase by the pancreas

American Journal of Physiology-Gastrointestinal and Liver Physiology, 1981
The effect of the gastrointestinal hormone, cholecystokinin-pancreozymin (CCK-PZ), on the flux of alpha-amylase across the basolateral surface of the pancreas into interstitial fluid was measured by following its appearance in the medium bathing whole rabbit pancreas in organ culture.

On the mechanism of alpha-amylase.

European journal of biochemistry, 2003
Two inhibitors, acarbose and cyclodextrins (CD), were used to investigate the active site structure and function of barley alpha-amylase isozymes, AMY1 and AMY2. The hydrolysis of DP 4900-amylose, reduced (r) DP18-maltodextrin and maltoheptaose (catalysed by AMY1 and AMY2) was followed in the absence and in the presence of inhibitor. Without inhibitor,

Some aspects of the mechanism of complexation of red kidney bean .alpha.-amylase inhibitor and .alpha.-amylase

Biochemistry, 1984
Bovine pancreatic alpha-amylase binds 1 mol of acarbose (a carbohydrate alpha-amylase inhibitor) per mol at the active site and also binds acarbose nonspecifically. The red kidney bean alpha-amylase inhibitor-bovine pancreatic alpha-amylase complex retained nonspecific binding for acarbose only.

A Nested Alpha-Amylase Gene in Drosophila ananassae

Journal of Molecular Evolution, 2003
The amylase gene family of Drosophila ananassae consists in seven copies, scattered on several chromosomal arms. We have evidenced that a member of the family, Amy35, lies within an intron of a gene homologous to the CG14696 gene of D. melanogaster. This nested arrangement seems restricted to the D. ananassae subgroup. The nested and the nest genes are

[The polymorphism of alpha-amylase].

Sudebno-meditsinskaia ekspertiza, 1991
Individual phenotypes, phenotypic and genetic frequencies of alpha-amylase enzyme were determined by means of population genetic study. The results of this study revealed absence of genetic linkage between alpha-amylase phenotypes, haptoglobins and serum factor G1m(1) of gammaglobulin system (Gm).

alpha-Amylase adsorption on starch crystallites.

Biotechnology and bioengineering, 1991
The goal of this work was to characterize the adsorption of Bacillus subtills alpha-amylase onto crystalline starchy materials of the B-type polymorph. Monodisperse spherulitic particles (R approximately equal to 5.0 microm), essentially resistant to alpha-amylolysis at 25 degrees C were prepared from short amylose chains (DP(n) approximately equal to ...
