Structural classification of insecticidal proteins – towards an in silico characterization of novel toxins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The increasing rate of discovery of new toxins with potential for the control of invertebrate pests through next generation sequencing, presents challenges for the identification of the best candidates for further development.

Effect of catanospermine, 1-deoxynojirimycin or 1-deoxymannojirimycin on biological and functional activities of Japanese encephalitis virus in porcine stable kidney cells

open access: yesMicrobiology Research, 2013
In the present study, effect of catanospermine (CST), 1-deoxynojirimycin (DNJ) or 1-deoxymannojirimycin (DMJ) was studied on porcine stable kidney (PS) cells infected with Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV). As both CST and DNJ are potent inhibitors of ER

Activity-based probes for functional interrogation of retaining β-glucuronidases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Humans express at least two distinct β-glucuronidase enzymes that are involved in disease: exo-acting β-glucuronidase (GUSB), whose deficiency gives rise to mucopolysaccharidosis type VII, and endo-acting heparanase (HPSE), whose overexpression is ...

Strategy for Designing Selective Lysosomal Acid α-Glucosidase Inhibitors:Binding Orientation and Influence on Selectivity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Deoxynojirimycin (DNJ) is the archetypal iminosugar, in which the configuration of the hydroxyl groups in the piperidine ring truly mimic those of d-glucopyranose; DNJ and derivatives have beneficial effects as therapeutic agents, such as anti-diabetic ...

Sex‐Specific Regulation of Glycemic Homeostasis by Theabrownin from Pu‐erh Tea

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Pu‐erh tea's key component, theabrownin (TB), lowers blood glucose in a sex‐specific manner. In females, estrogen boosts intestinal MUC2 production, which dramatically enhances TB's ability to inhibit the carbohydrate‐digesting enzyme α‐glucosidase.

Optimal Grazing Exclusion Duration to Enhance Soil Carbon Sequestration in Degraded Grasslands

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Across China, grazing exclusion reaches the national mean soil organic carbon recovery benchmark sooner in high‐MAP regions (> 500 mm), but recovery is much slower where MAP < 300 mm. Scaling this strategy to 70% of China's degraded grasslands would sequester about 1.52 Pg of soil carbon over 10 years—roughly 17% of annual global fossil‐fuel emissions.

Enzyme-assisted extraction of leaf proteins: efficiency, functionality, and structural insights

open access: yesFood Chemistry: X
Leaf proteins are gaining popularity for their balanced amino acid composition and reduced environmental impact. Enzyme-assisted extraction (EAE) employs enzymes such as proteases, xylanases, β-glucosidases, pectinases, and alpha-amylases to degrade ...

Voglibose: An Alpha Glucosidase Inhibitor

open access: yesJOURNAL OF CLINICAL AND DIAGNOSTIC RESEARCH, 2013
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a morbid disease worldwide, with increasing incidence as time passes. It has macro-vascular and micro-vascular complications. The main cause of these complications is poorly controlled postprandial hyperglycaemia. Alpha glucosidase inhibitors, namely acarbose, voglibose and miglitol, are available for therapy.

Акаридієві кліщі підродини Rhizoglyphinae (Acariformes, Acaridae) - шкідники овочевих культур Житомирського Полісся [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
