Atypical Electrophysiological Indices of Eyes-Open and Eyes-Closed Resting-State in Children and Adolescents with ADHD and Autism

open access: yesBrain Sciences, 2020
Investigating electrophysiological measures during resting-state might be useful to investigate brain functioning and responsivity in individuals under diagnostic assessment for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism. EEG was recorded

The $\alpha-\alpha$ fishbone potential revisited

open access: yes, 2011
The fishbone potential of composite particles simulates the Pauli effect by nonlocal terms. We determine the $\alpha-\alpha$ fishbone potential by simultaneously fitting to two-$\alpha$ resonance energies, experimental phase shifts and three-$\alpha ...

Spectral Gaps of Almost Mathieu Operator in Exponential Regime [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
For almost Mathieu operator $(H_{\lambda,\alpha,\theta}u)_n=u_{n+1}+u_{n-1}+2\lambda \cos2\pi(\theta+n\alpha)u_n$, the dry version of Ten Martini problem predicts that the spectrum $\Sigma_{\lambda,\alpha}$ of $ H_{\lambda,\alpha,\theta}$ has all gaps ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Stabilization policies and the WTO [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper tackles the question of the compatibility of public market stabilization instruments with the WTO rules applied to developing countries. We shall first examine the three pillars of the 1994 Agreement on Agriculture (AoA) (border protection ...

Stability of magnetic fields in non-barotropic stars: an analytic treatment

open access: yes, 2013
Magnetic fields in upper main-sequence stars, white dwarfs, and neutron stars are known to persist for timescales comparable to their lifetimes.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Performance Characteristics of the Battery-Operated Silicon PIN Diode Detector with an Integrated Preamplifier and Data Acquisition Module for Fusion Particle Detection

open access: yesJournal of Nuclear Engineering
We present the performance and application of a commercial off-the-shelf Si PIN diode (Hamamatsu S14605) as a charged particle detector in a compact ion beam system (IBS) capable of generating D–D and p–B fusion charged particles.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Alpha-thalassaemia.

open access: yesOrphanet journal of rare diseases, 2010
Alpha-thalassaemia is inherited as an autosomal recessive disorder characterised by a microcytic hypochromic anaemia, and a clinical phenotype varying from almost asymptomatic to a lethal haemolytic anaemia. It is probably the most common monogenic gene disorder in the world and is especially frequent in Mediterranean countries, South-East Asia, Africa,
