Microenvironmental Reprogramming by 3D Anisotropic Cardiac Extracellular Matrix Induces Nuclear Remodeling and Epigenetic Maturation of Chemically Induced Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D anisotropic hydrogel derived from heart extracellular matrix guides cytoskeletal alignment and nuclear remodeling in reprogrammed cardiomyocyte‐like cells. This study reveals how matrix alignment modulates nuclear envelope dynamics and chromatin state, triggering transcriptional and functional maturation.

Influence of on Alpha-Adrenergic Receptor of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Neurourology Journal, 2014
Purpose Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is the most common prostate problem in older men. The present study aimed to investigate the inhibitory effect of Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer ( P. ginseng) on a rat model of testosterone-induced BPH.

Mechanical and Electrical Phenotype of hiPSC‐Cardiomyocytes on Fibronectin‐Based Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce fibronectin‐based PEG hydrogels with controlled rigidity to enable the culture of iPSC‐derived cardiomyocytes. These substrates offer an alternative to the current culture of these cells on fibronectin‐coated glass, providing enhanced structural and functional behavior. The system provides a more physiologically relevant platform to assess

Modulation of Alpha 1 Adrenergic Receptors on Urinary Bladder in Rat Spinal Cord Injury Model [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Neurourology Journal, 2012
Purpose Whereas many studies have focused on the vesical changes of the α1 adrenergic receptor (AR) subtypes in partial outlet obstruction, few studies have addressed the modulation of the α1 AR subtypes after spinal cord injury (SCI).

Natural Products Inspired Scaffold Diversification Leads to Unnatural Molecular Warhead and Covalent Strategy to Modulating Protein Function through Electrophilic Bromine Transfer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report a new thiolate‐reactive α,α‐gem‐dibromo lactam warhead that activates transcription factor Nrf2 and demonstrates anti‐inflammatory activities, which have implications in cancer, neurodegeneration, and cardiovascular diseases. RNA‐seq illuminated detailed transcriptional profiles, and chemical reactions with cysteine‐containing compounds ...

A Novel Class of “Super‐Strained” Spiro Heterocycles: Gateway to 1‐Azaspiro[3.3]heptane Derivatives, and Biological Validation

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A new class of “super‐strained” spiro heterocycles—spirocyclic 1‐azabicyclo[1.1.0]butanes—was synthesized via insertion of cyclobutane‐, oxetane‐, and azetidine‐containing sulfonium reagents into substituted azirines. The stability of this new class of compounds was studied.

Two cases of priapism associated with Quetiapine

open access: yesPsychiatry and Clinical Psychopharmacology, 2018
Priapism is a painful, prolonged erection that occurs without any sexual stimulation. It is an emergency that may lead impotence, urinary retention, and gangrene as long-term devastating consequences.

Adipocyte‐Derived Leptolin Enhances Energy Expenditure and Prevents Obesity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We identified a novel adipokine, which we named leptolin. In humans, leptolin levels in white adipose tissue were positively correlated with exercise and negatively associated with body mass index. We observed elevated leptolin in serum from athletes and lower leptolin in serum from obese individuals.

Alpha adrenergic receptors in renal pelvis and calyces: can rat models be used?

open access: yesInternational Brazilian Journal of Urology, 2014
We aimed, in this study, to determine the distribution of α-1 AR subtypes in rat and human pelvis and calyces, and to evaluate, by comparing these two species, the possibility of rats to be used as models for humans.

Changes in expression of alpha-1, 2 and β-2 adenoidal receptor gene in cumulus cells of infertile women with polycystic ovary syndrome (IVF candidate) and effect of clonidine on it [PDF]

open access: yesMajallah-i Zanān, Māmā̓ī va Nāzā̓ī-i Īrān, 2019
Introduction: Ovarian function should control follicle development, steroidogenesis, and ovulation processes by ovarian external and internal hormonal signals.
