Alpha–electron and alpha–photon coincidences in high-resolution alpha spectrometry

Simulations are used here to establish the role of coincidences in high-resolution alpha spectrometry using 241Am as an example.

Determination of boron in glass by alpha-spectrometry
Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry Letters, 1994Alpha-spectrometric method has been used for the determination of boron in borosilicate glasses. For irradiation thermal neutrons with a flux of about 105 n·cm−2·s−1, produced in a paraffin moderator surrounding a deuteron target of a small neutron generator, were used.

Routine alpha-spectrometry of environmental samples

Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 1987Abstract A laboratory for routine alpha-spectrometry based on gridded ionisation chambers (80, 500 and 20,000 cm 2 of source area, respectively) has been built for direct measurement of low specific activity samples. They allow direct spectrometry of samples having specific activities as low as 6.7, 2.5 and 0.18 mBq g −1 , respectively.
