Autographa californica Multicapsid Nucleopolyhedrovirus efficiently infects Sf9 cells and transduces mammalian cells via direct fusion with the plasma membrane at low pH [PDF]
The budded virus (BV) of the Autographa californica multicapsid nucleopolyhedrovirus (AcMNPV) infects insect cells and transduces mammalian cells mainly through the endocytosis pathway.

Complete Genome Sequence of an Alphabaculovirus from Choristoneura diversana
The genome sequence of a baculovirus isolated from Choristoneura diversana is 122,827 bp long and contains 150 putative open reading frames (ORFs). The virus is closely related to alphabaculoviruses isolated from insect species of the genus Choristoneura .

Abstract EFSA is requested to assess the safety of a broad range of biological agents in the context of notification for market authorisation as sources of food and feed additives, food enzymes and plant protection products. The qualified presumption of safety (QPS) assessment was developed to provide a harmonised generic pre‐assessment to support ...

Pathology of a Gammabaculovirus in Its Natural Balsam Fir Sawfly (Neodiprion abietis) Host
The Neodiprion abietis Gammabaculovirus (Baculoviridae: NeabNPV) is virulent, highly contagious, and infects only midgut epithelial cells of balsam fir sawfly larvae, but infections can carry through to adult sawflies in the midgut. Larval infections are characterized by hypertrophy of midgut epithelial cell nuclei, where virogenic stromata develop to ...

Third-generation Sequencing Reveals Extensive Polycistronism and Transcriptional Overlapping in a Baculovirus [PDF]
The Autographa californica multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus (AcMNPV) is an insect-pathogen baculovirus. In this study, we applied the Oxford Nanopore Technologies platform for the analysis of the polyadenylated fraction of the viral transcriptome using both

Leucoma salicis nucleopolyhedrovirus (LesaNPV) genome sequence shed new light on the origin of the Alphabaculovirus orpseudotsugatae species. [PDF]
AbstractLesaNPV (Leucoma salicis nucleopolyhedrovirus) is an alphabaculovirus group Ib. Potentially, it can be an eco-friendly agent to control the white satin moth Leucoma salicis population. In this study, we have established the relationship between LesaNPV and other closely related alphabaculoviruses.

The baculovirus expression system is one of the most successful and widely used eukaryotic protein expression methods. This short review will summarise the role of bacterial artificial chromosomes (BACS) as an enabling technology for the modification of the virus genome. For many years baculovirus genomes have been maintained in E.

Baculovirus: Molecular Insights on Their Diversity and Conservation
The Baculoviridae is a large group of insect viruses containing circular double‐stranded DNA genomes of 80 to 180 kbp. In this study, genome sequences from 57 baculoviruses were analyzed to reevaluate the number and identity of core genes and to understand the distribution of the remaining coding sequences.
