Dancing to multiple tunes: Establishing legitimacy with first‐time and repeat backers in crowdfunding campaigns

Abstract Research Summary Using 14,108 Kickstarter crowdfunding campaigns, we examine three strategies to gather support from first‐time versus repeat backers: narrative distinctiveness aligning with backers' expectations of novelty, endorsement from Kickstarter staff, and campaign leadership's reciprocity of funding other campaigns.

Practically Error‐Free Junctions Enable Solving Large Instances of Exact Cover Problems Using Network‐Based Biocomputation

Scaling nanofluidic channel geometries to sub‐200 nm is demonstrated to suppress junction guiding errors in network‐based biocomputing. A Novel Approach to Energy Management in Electric Steelworks

Feed‐forward neural networks are exploited to estimate electric energy consumptions of the electric arc furnace and ladle furnace processes. The models are used to optimize production schedule so that more energy intensive grades are produced when the cost of energy is lower.
