Alternatives to chemical methods for vector control.

Annales de la Societe belge de medecine tropicale, 1992
Under the concept of the integrated approach for disease vector control, chemical pesticides in many cases can be complemented or replaced by ecologically safer alternatives. Environmental management and physical or biological methods of control are attractive adjuncts.

Alternatives to terbuthylazine for chemical weed control in maize

2016
Three field experiments were carried out on maize from 2012 to 2014 to assess weed control efficacy of herbicides’ treatments with and without terbuthylazine applied in different mixtures and with different application timings. Considering pre-emergence herbicides, acetochlor and S-metolachlor alone seem not to be advisable due to their low efficacy ...

Chemical Substitution—An Alternative Strategy for Controlling the Particle Size of Barium Ferrite

Crystal Growth & Design, 2012
Barium ferrite nanoplates with the nominal composition BaFe12–xMxO19, where M = Sc, In, or Cr and x = 0–0.5, were hydrothermally synthesized at 160 and 240 °C. The incorporation of the substituent ions into the barium ferrite particles was confirmed with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy.

MECHANICAL WEED CONTROL AS A SUSTAINABLE ALTERNATIVE TO CHEMICAL METHODS IN SUGAR BEET

Proceedings
Sugar beet is among the most demanding field crops, particularly due to its sensitivity to the presence of weeds during the early stages of development. Modern trends on environmental protection and the production of healthy and safe food impose the choice of weed control methods without the use (reduced use) of herbicides. Therefore, the effectiveness

Alternative to the chemical control of post-harvest diseases of bananas in Guadeloupe

2001
Anthracnose and crown rot of bananas, mainly due to #Colletotrichum musae#, are the most important post-harvest diseases affecting the quality of exported fruits from the French West Indies. These diseases develop during fruit conservation and ripening and highly depreciate fruit marketability.

Chemical control of ambrosia Artemisiifolia on non-crop areas: are there alternatives to glyphosate?

Communications in agricultural and applied biological sciences, 2006
We compared glyphosate, glufosinate and metsulfuron-methyl to control Ambrosia artemisiifolia under non-crop conditions. A laboratory study showed that A. artemisiifolia is an easy-to-wet species and that glufosinate and glyphosate are quickly absorbed by its leaves (nearly 100% in 24 h). Metsulfuron-methyl absorption was slower (about 50% in 24 h) but

SOME ALTERNATIVE METHODS FOR CHEMICAL PESTICIDES IN AGRICULTURAL PEST CONTROL

2014
