Investigating Cancer-related Proteins Specific Domain Interactions and Differential Protein Interactions Caused by Alternative Splicing

open access: yes, 2012
[[abstract]]A strategy to gain a better understanding of disease proteins is to consider the interactions of these proteins by making use of the protein-protein interaction (PPI) data. It is known that proteins are composed of multiple functional domains.

Alternative splicing of pre-mRNA in cancer: focus on G protein-coupled peptide hormone receptors

open access: yes, 2009
Through alternative splicing, multiple different transcripts can be generated from a single gene. Alternative splicing represents an important molecular mechanism of gene regulation in physiological processes such as developmental programming as well as ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Biochemical and Antioxidant Characterization of Pigment-Deficient Chlorella vulgaris Flours and the Impact of Fermentation: Comparative Insights from Green, Honey, and White Variants

open access: yesFoods
This study investigated the biochemical composition and antioxidant potential of flours from pigment-deficient Chlorella vulgaris variants (honey and white) and wild-type (green) and the impact of lactic acid bacteria–yeast co-culture fermentation.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

PRODUCTION AND PROFITABILITY RESPONSES TO ALTERNATIVE PROTEIN SOURCES IN BROILER RATIONS

open access: yes
Profitability of using peanut meal as an alternative protein source in broiler production was investigated through the development of a two-stage mathematical program that optimizes broiler production.

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

PRODUCTION AND PROFITABILITY RESPONSES TO ALTERNATIVE PROTEIN SOURCES AND LEVELS IN BROILER RATIONS

open access: yes
Profitability of using alternative protein sources in broiler feed is investigated through the development of a two-stage mathematical program that optimizes broiler production. A case study of peanut meal vs. soybean meal is examined.
