Bronchial asthma: Advice for patients traveling to high altitude
This article examines the possibility of travelling to altitude for patients suffering from bronchial asthma. The mountain environment, the adaptations of the respiratory system to high altitude, the underlying pathophysiologies of asthma and the ...

All energy matters Let us broaden the discussion on solutions to climate change. Greenhouse gases have upset the delicate equilibrium of the Earth's energy balance. Consequently, all sources of heat affect the temperature of the Earth. Although the amount of additional heat generated by humans is a fraction of that produced by the sun, it is generated ...

Because of lacking ventilatory stimulation by sex hormones in postmenopausal women (PW), one might expect a lowered arterial oxygen saturation (S(O(2))) in hypoxia and therefore a stronger erythropoietic reaction than in young women (YW). Nine untrained (

Comparison of Dried Blood Spot Sampling Methods for RNA‐Based Biomarker Measurement in Anti‐Doping
This study demonstrates that RNA‐based biomarkers of erythropoiesis, ALAS2 and CA1, can be reliably quantified across commonly used DBS sampling matrices, including venous and capillary blood spotted on cellulose cards and the Tasso‐M20 device. ABSTRACT Dried blood spot (DBS) sampling offers logistical advantages, but it remains unexplored whether ...

Triaxial compression tests under unloading confining pressure conditions were conducted to systematically analyze the permeability behavior of granite retrieved from the different classification surrounding rocks. Abstract The rock mass within mountain tunnels undergoes complex changes in permeability, strength, and deformation during tunneling ...

The fused data extracted from the distributed monitoring system as the data basis, combined with dynamic geological data, are imported into a deep learning model. As the geological conditions of mining and excavation change, the risk of water inrush at the working face is retrieved in real time.

This study demonstrates the feasibility of an underground closed‐loop thermal storage facility at a post‐mining site, intended for seasonal heat energy storage. Its principal design shows water flow directions in winter and summer (1, 2), heat pumps (3), an upper water reservoir (4), and connecting pipes (5).

Magnetic local time dependency on cusp ion velocity dispersions in the mid-altitude cusp
Observations of cusp ion velocity dispersions made by the TIMAS instrument on the Polar spacecraft in the mid-altitude cusp during intervals of northward interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) reveal a clear ordering with magnetic local time (MLT).
