Aluminum and Aluminum Alloys

2018
Aluminum alloys are the second most widely used metallic materials after steels. Their most important properties are: Low density (2.7 g cm−3) which can lead to significant energy savings, especially in transportation applications Good mechanical properties offering optimum tensile strength Good workability permitting the most varied ...

Aluminum monocarbonyl and aluminum isocarbonyl

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1996
Ab initio studies of the aluminum monocarbonyl species AlCO and AlOC have been performed to predict the geometries, fragmentation energies, and harmonic vibrational frequencies. Both species were optimized at the self-consistent field, configuration interaction, and coupled-cluster levels of theory with large basis sets. At the highest level of theory,

Aluminum Tetraphenylporphyrin and Aluminum Phthalocyanine Neutral Radicals

Inorganic Chemistry, 2006
Treatment of tetraphenylporphyrinato(aluminum) chloride, Al(TPP)Cl, with Na/Hg in THF yields the stable radical Al(TPP)(THF)2. Similarly, treatment of aluminum phthalocyanine chloride, Al(Pc)Cl, with Na/Hg in THF yields the stable radical Al(Pc)(THF)2. Solution-phase magnetic susceptibility measurements show that both are monomeric radicals in solution,

Aluminum chlorohydrate III: Conversion to aluminum hydroxide

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1981
Bayerite, an aluminum hydroxide polymorph, readily forms when the hydroxyl to aluminum ratio of aluminum chlorohydrate is raised to 3 by titration with sodium hydroxide. Dilution of aluminum chlorhydrate solutions with water leads to the formation of gibbsite, another aluminum hydroxide polymorph. The mechanism of conversion in each instance is related

Aluminum Toxicity

Pediatrics, 1983
To the Editor.— The article by Griswold et al1 is useful in demonstrating again the toxicity of aluminum. Several points in the case report, however, demonstrate that a fair amount of information accumulated in adult nephrology may be unknown to pediatricians. First, hypercalcemia is common with this form of osteomalacia.2-

Laser shock welding of aluminum/aluminum and aluminum/copper plates

Materials & Design (1980-2015), 2014
Abstract This work describes an advanced technique for metal welding and composite production, namely laser shock welding. A series of laser shock welding experiments were conducted to verify the welding ability of aluminum/aluminum and aluminum/copper plates.

Aluminum and Aluminum Alloys

2001
Abstract This article discusses the composition, structures, properties, and behaviors of aluminum alloys and explains how they correspond to specific alloying elements. It begins with an overview of the general characteristics of wrought and cast aluminum alloys, the four-digit classification system by which they are defined, and the ...

Aluminum and Aluminum Alloy Castings

2008
Abstract This article begins with a discussion on the effects of alloying and impurity elements on the properties of aluminum cast alloys and their chemical compositions. It describes various means of structural control, namely, chemistry control, control of element ratios based on the stoichiometry of intermetallic phases, and control ...
