Abstract : The present work provides kinetic information on Al oxide reactions. To measure such kinetics the authors have modified the AeroChem high- temperature fast-flow reactor to allow direct observation of AlO by laser induced resonance fluorescence. They report here on the experimental methods and on their first observations on the reaction AlO +

Oxidation dynamics of aluminum nanorods
Applied Physics Letters, 2013Aluminum nanorods (Al-NRs) are promising fuels for pyrotechnics due to the high contact areas with oxidizers, but their oxidation mechanisms are largely unknown. Here, reactive molecular dynamics simulations are performed to study thermally initiated burning of oxide-coated Al-NRs with different diameters (D = 26, 36, and 46 nm) in oxygen environment ...

Infected Aluminum Oxide Orbital Implant
Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, 2006Porous orbital implant infection is rare. The diagnosis may be delayed as the initial symptoms and signs are not always indicative of implant infection. It is often only with time, a persistence of symptoms and signs, and additional symptoms and signs that implant infection is suspected.

Ultrathin Aluminum Oxide Tunnel Barriers
Physical Review Letters, 2002Ballistic electron emission microscopy is used to study the formation of ultrathin tunnel barriers by the oxidization of aluminum. An O2 exposure, approximately 30 mTorr sec, forms a uniform tunnel barrier with a barrier height straight phi(b) of 1.2 eV.

Ferrocyanide adsorption on aluminum oxides
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2004Ferrocyanide (Fe(CN)6(4-)) adsorption onto gamma-alumina ( gamma-Al2O3(s) ) and gibbsite (Al(OH)3(s)) was investigated over a wide pH range and at various solid loadings. Batch experiments were performed using 100-ml solutions (I = 0.01 M NaCl) dosed with 1.0 mgl(-1) Fe(CN)6(4-) as CN.

Alkylphosphonate Modified Aluminum Oxide Surfaces
The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2006The surface properties of aluminum, such as chemical composition, roughness, friction, adhesion, and wear, can play an important role in the performance of micro-/nano-electromechanical systems, e.g., digital micromirror devices. Aluminum substrates chemically reacted with octadecylphosphonic acid (ODP/Al), decylphosphonic acid (DP/Al), and ...
