Winter cover crops influence Amaranthus palmeri establishment
Crop Protection, 2013Winter cover crops were evaluated for their effect on Amaranthus palmeri establishment and growth in cotton production. Cover crops examined included rye and four winter legumes: narrow-leaf lupine, crimson clover, Austrian winter pea, and cahaba vetch. Each legume was evaluated alone and in a mixture with rye.

Ecophysiology of Amaranthus palmeri, a sonoran desert summer annual
Oecologia, 1983Basic photosynthetic and water relations characteristics in relation to soil water availability were investigated in Amaranthus palmeri, a common C4 summer annual of the Sonoran Desert. Under conditions of high soil water availability, photosynthetic capacity exceeded 70 μmol CO2 m-2 s-1 at a leaf temperature optimum of 42°C, and photosynthesis was not

Deciphering the Mechanism of Glyphosate Resistance in Amaranthus palmeri by Cytogenomics.
Cytogenetic and genome research, 2022In agriculture, various chemicals are used to control the weeds. Out of which, glyphosate is an important herbicide invariably used in the cultivation of glyphosate-resistant crops to control weeds. Overuse of glyphosate results in the evolution of glyphosate-resistant weeds.

Mechanism of Resistance of Evolved Glyphosate-Resistant Palmer Amaranth (Amaranthus palmeri)
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2011Evolved glyphosate resistance in weedy species represents a challenge for the continued success and utility of glyphosate-resistant crops. Glyphosate functions by inhibiting the plant enzyme 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase (EPSPS). The resistance mechanism was determined in a population of glyphosate-resistant Palmer amaranth from Georgia ...

Acclimation of Palmer Amaranth (Amaranthus palmeri) to Shading
Weed Science, 2008Experiments were conducted to investigate the acclimation of Palmer amaranth to shading. Plants were grown in the field beneath black shade cloths providing 47 and 87% shade and in full sunlight (no shading). All photosynthetic measurements were taken 4 wk after initiating the shade treatments.
