Ambient Noise Tomography for Coral Islands

open access: yesEngineering, 2023
As valuable land in the ocean, coral islands are not only important bases for making use of marine resources and protecting marine rights and interests, but also important for breakthrough research in many fields of earth science. Hence, the economical and efficient determination of the underground structure of coral islands has become significant in ...

Ambient noise tomography across the Central Andes [PDF]

open access: yesGeophysical Journal International, 2013
The Central Andes of southern Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and Chile (between 12°S and 42°S) comprise the largest orogenic plateau in the world associated with abundant arc volcanism, the Central Andean Plateau, as well as multiple segments of flat-slab subduction making this part of the Earth a unique place to study various aspects of active plate ...

Ambient noise Rayleigh wave tomography across Europe [PDF]

open access: yesGeophysical Journal International, 2007
SUMMARY We extend ambient noise surface wave tomography both in bandwidth (10‐50 s period) and in geographical extent (across much of Europe) compared with previous applications. 12 months of ambient noise data from 2004 are analysed. The data are recorded at about 125 broadband Seismic stations from the Global Seismic Network and the Orfeus Virtual ...

Ambient seismic noise tomography of Australian continent [PDF]

open access: yesTectonophysics, 2010
Abstract Imaging using information derived from the cross-correlation of the ambient seismic wavefield at different stations has recently become an important tool in seismology. We here present a continent wide study of the Australian crust based on the exploitation of continuous data from extensive portable broad-band deployments across Australia ...

High-Resolution Surface-Wave Tomography from Ambient Seismic Noise [PDF]

open access: yesScience, 2005
Cross-correlation of 1 month of ambient seismic noise recorded at USArray stations in California yields hundreds of short-period surface-wave group-speed measurements on interstation paths. We used these measurements to construct tomographic images of the principal geological units of California, with low-speed anomalies corresponding to the main ...

Dead Sea Basin Imaged by Ambient Seismic Noise Tomography [PDF]

open access: yesPure and Applied Geophysics, 2011
In the framework of the Dead Sea Integrated Research project (DESIRE), 59 seismological stations were deployed in the region of the Dead Sea Basin. Twenty of these stations recorded data of sufficiently high quality between May and September 2007 to be used for ambient seismic noise analysis.

Ambient noise Love wave tomography of China

open access: yesEarth and Planetary Physics, 2019
We first report on the Love wave tomography of China based on ambient noise cross-correlations. We used 3 years of continuous waveform data recorded by 206 broadband seismic stations on the Chinese Mainland and 36 neighboring global stations and obtained Love wave empirical Green’s functions from cross-correlations of the horizontal components.

Ambient noise Rayleigh wave tomography of New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yesGeophysical Journal International, 2007
SUMMARY We present the first New Zealand-wide study of surface wave dispersion, using ambient noise observed at 42 broad-band stations in the national seismic network (GeoNet) and the Global Seismic Network (GSN). Year-long vertical-component time-series recorded between 2005 April 1 and 2006 March 31 have been correlated with one another to yield ...

Synthetic Modeling of Ambient Seismic Noise Tomography Data

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2021
Abstract Ambient seismic noise tomography is one of the most widely used methods in seismological studies today, especially after a comprehensive Earth noise model was published and noise analysis was performed on the IRIS Global Seismographic Network.
