Ambiguity [PDF]

open access: yes
Ambiguity refers to a decision situation under uncertainty when there is incomplete information about the likelihood of events. Different formal models of this notion have been developed with differing implications about the representation of ambiguity ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

High-Resolution Wideband Waveform Design for Sonar Based on Multi-Parameter Modulation

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2023
The design of transmitting waveforms is an effective way to improve the detection performance of sonar systems. For the problem of high-range sidelobe when designing reverberation-resistant waveforms, this paper proposes a high-resolution wideband ...

Evaluating the involvement of autolysosomes in the nuclear translocation of fluorescent proteins

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Endogenously expressed fluorescent proteins can be degraded by autophagy and transported to cell nuclei via the nuclear pore complex. But in some cell lines, for example, HeLa cells which are positive for immunoreactivity of a receptor ligand, such as UCN I, in cell nuclei, fusion of autolysosome with the nuclear envelope is involved in the nuclear ...

Predicting attitudes toward ambiguity using natural language processing on free descriptions for open-ended question measurements

open access: yesScientific Reports
Individual traits and reactions to ambiguity differ and are conceptualized in terms of an individual’s attitudes toward ambiguity or ambiguity tolerance.

PERFORMANCE & AMBIGUITY OF RANGE MEASUREMENT FOR COMS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2007
The ambiguity and performance of range measurement for COMS using tone standard was analyzed with assuming that satellite is operating at transfer-station and on-station. From the results of analysis, it was shown that the ambiguity was reduced when low frequency ratio between tone signals and large number of minor tones are applied.

The Ambiguous Impact of Performance Measurement on Service Quality

open access: yesFrontiers in Rehabilitation Sciences, 2022
BackgroundPerformance measurement is growing in importance as a management tool in services for disabled people.AimThe aim of this article is to add to the existing literature by exploring (a) the motivation for the introduction of such measurements, (b) the reasoning behind the choice of current indicators, and (c) the impact of performance ...

Brainstem and Cerebellar Volume Loss and Associated Clinical Features in Progressive Supranuclear Palsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) is a neurodegenerative ‘tauopathy’ with predominating pathology in the basal ganglia and midbrain. Caudal tau spread frequently implicates the cerebellum; however, the pattern of atrophy remains equivocal.
