The effect of inhibiting p38 MAPK on the expression of genes related to enamel development in mice

open access: yes口腔疾病防治, 2021
Objective To study the effect of p38 mitogen activated protein kinase (p38 MAPK) on the expression of genes related to enamel development in the enamel epithelium and to provide a basis for the study of the molecular mechanism of enamel development ...

The Unfolded Protein Response in Amelogenesis and Enamel Pathologies

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2017
During the secretory phase of their life-cycle, ameloblasts are highly specialized secretory cells whose role is to elaborate an extracellular matrix that ultimately confers both form and function to dental enamel, the most highly mineralized of all ...

Ameloblastic fibro-odontoma

open access: yesInternational Journal of Surgery Case Reports, 2014
Ameloblastic fibro-odontoma (AFO) is a quite rare, mixed odontogenic tumour generally seen in the early stages of life. Frequent signs of this tumour are asymptomatic swelling, delayed tooth eruption and mixed radiological appearance within well-defined borders.

Tissue Engineering Using Differentiation of Endometrial Stem Cells into Ameloblast Cells and Implantation on Hydroxyapatite and Collagen Nanocomposite Scaffold

open access: yesBiomedical and Biotechnology Research Journal
Background: Dental tissue engineering (DTE) is an inspiring biological approach to replacing lost teeth. The strength of the differentiation of basic endometrial cells to ameloblasts is yet to be fully understood. Moreover, the construction of a scaffold,

Crucial Roles of microRNA-16-5p and microRNA-27b-3p in Ameloblast Differentiation Through Regulation of Genes Associated With Amelogenesis Imperfecta

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2022
Amelogenesis imperfecta is a congenital disorder within a heterogeneous group of conditions characterized by enamel hypoplasia. Patients suffer from early tooth loss, social embarrassment, eating difficulties, and pain due to an abnormally thin, soft ...

Comparison of Two Mouse Ameloblast-like Cell Lines for Enamel-specific Gene Expression

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2014
Ameloblasts are ectoderm-derived cells that produce an extracellular enamel matrix that mineralizes to form enamel. The development and use of immortalized cell lines, with a stable phenotype, is an important contribution to biological studies as it ...

Focal Adhesion Kinase Expression in Ameloblastoma: A Preliminary Observational Study [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2017
Introduction: Focal Adhesion Kinase (FAK) is a membraneassociated molecule, which plays a major role in tumourigenesis by promoting cell survival, proliferation, migration, and invasion.

Ameloblastic fibrosarcoma transformation from ameloblastic fibroma

open access: yesNational Journal of Maxillofacial Surgery, 2022
Ameloblastic fibrosarcoma (AFS) is an extremely rare malignant odontogenic tumor. It is composed of benign odontogenic epithelium, resembling that of ameloblastoma, and a mesenchymal part exhibiting features of fibrosarcoma. The development of this lesion in the jaws is either de novo or from preexisting ameloblastic fibroma ...

Restoration of human tooth enamel

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Human tooth enamel has remarkable properties but lacks self‐repair ability. Existing restorative materials cannot fully replicate enamel's microstructure and function, resulting in low restorative efficiency. This review summarizes the formation process and characteristics of enamel, and current restorative materials and future research directions are ...

On the pattern of ameloblast migration

open access: yesCell Proliferation, 1989
Abstract The kinetics of ameloblast cells in continuously growing guinea pig molars were studied using autoradiography. The results showed that there was no direct relationship between ameloblast migration rate and ameloblast production rate, which indicated that ameloblasts actively migrated coronally.
