Dynamical mean-field theory of photoemission spectra of actinide compounds [PDF]
A model of photoemission spectra of actinide compounds is presented. The complete multiplet spectrum of a single ion is calculated by exact diagonalization of the two-body Hamiltonian of the f^n shell.

Spent nuclear fuel contains precious and highly radioactive metals, such as plutonium, americium, curium, europium. Closed nuclear fuel cycle technology allows to distinguish these elements from spent nuclear fuel. Americium and curium are very expensive

Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Alpha Radiation-Induced Luminescence by Am-241 in Aqueous Nitric Acid Solution
When exposed to air, alpha particles cause the production of light by exciting the molecules surrounding them. This light, the radioluminescence, is indicative of the presence of alpha radiation, thus allowing for the optical sensing of alpha radiation ...

Design criteria and performance parameters of an alpha irradiation device for cell studies [PDF]
An alpha irradiation device is described that utilises a commercially available disc-shaped americium-241 source of 8 cm diameter. The alpha particles traverse a moving collimator and the source is rotated to reduce the influence of source ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Determination of the nuclear radius parameter using the γ-ray spectrometer
The nuclear radius parameter of carbon, aluminium, iron, copper, and zinc nuclei has been determined by using (n,γ)-reaction. The neutrons from the americium-beryllium source are made to interact with the water moderator to produce the γ-rays of 2.2 MeV ...

Influence of diluent alkyl substitution on the extraction of Am(III) and Eu(III) by a 6,6’-bis(1,2,4-triazin-3-yl)-2,2’-bipyridine ligand dissolved in alkylated cyclohexanone Diluents [PDF]
Several alkylated cyclohexanones were investigated as potential diluents for the selective extraction of Am(III) from Eu(III) from nitric acid solutions by the CyMe4-BTBP ligand.
