Microstructures of Choline Amino Acid based Biocompatible Ionic Liquids
The Chemical Record, 2023AbstractBio‐compatible ionic liquids (Bio‐ILs) represent a class of solvents with peculiar properties and exhibit huge potential for their applications in different fields of chemistry. Ever since they were discovered, researchers have used bio‐ILs in diverse fields such as biomass dissolution, CO2 sequestration, and biodegradation of pesticides.

Accounts of Chemical Research, 2007
The preparation of ionic liquids derived from amino acids, and their properties, are outlined. Since amino acids have both a carboxylic acid residue and an amino group in a single molecule, they can be used as either anions or cations. These groups are also useful in their ability to introduce functional group(s).

Ionic Liquid Crystals Derived from Amino Acids
Chemistry – A European Journal, 2013AbstractNovel chiral amino acid derived ionic liquid crystals with amine and amide moieties as spacers between the imidazolium head group and the alkyl chain were synthesised. The key step in the synthesis utilised the relatively uncommon SO3 leaving group in a microwave‐assisted reaction.

Thermophysical Properties of Amino Acid-Based Ionic Liquids
Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data, 2009Ionic liquids (ILs) having either cations or anions derived from naturally occurring amino acids have been synthesized and characterized as amino acid-based ionic liquids (AAILs). In this work, the experimental measurements of the temperature dependence of density, viscosity, heat capacity, and thermal conductivity of several AAILs, namely ...

Synthesis of Chiral Ionic Liquids from Natural Amino Acids
The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2002For the first time, chiral imidazolium ionic liquids containing one chiral carbon (10a-c) were synthesized from the natural amino acids by a simple and straightforward procedure. The characteristics of the chiral ILs are very similar to the popular ionic liquids.

Structure and Electronic Properties of Amino Acid Ionic Liquids
The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2011The interactions between eight amino acid based anions and four imidazolium-based cations have been investigated by density functional theory. The electronic and structural properties of the resulting amino acid ionic liquids (AAILs) have been unveiled by means of the atoms in molecules framework. The calculated interaction energy was found to increase
