Room Temperature Ionic Liquids from 20 Natural Amino Acids

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2005
We first succeeded in synthesizing ionic liquids from 20 natural amino acids. Amino acid ionic liquids dissolved native amino acids, despite water-free conditions. Furthermore, these ionic liquids are soluble in various organic solvents, such as chloroform.

Mixtures of amino-acid based ionic liquids and water

Journal of Molecular Modeling, 2015
New ionic liquids (ILs) involving increasing numbers of organic and inorganic ions are continuously being reported. We recently developed a new force field; in the present work, we applied that force field to investigate the structural properties of a few novel imidazolium-based ILs in aqueous mixtures via molecular dynamics (MD) simulations.

Quantification of amino acid ionic liquids using liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry

Journal of Chromatography A, 2008
Amino acid ionic liquids (AAILs) containing imidazolium cations and amino acid (AA) anions, were synthesized and applied as task-specific ionic liquids. A sensitive and fast liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) method was established for the quantitative analysis of 20 AAILs.

Hydrophobic and low-density amino acid ionic liquids

Journal of Molecular Liquids, 2010
Abstract A series of tetraalkylphosphonium amino acid salts was synthesized to determine the effect of ion structure, in particular the length of alkyl chains, on physico-chemical properties such as density, viscosity, glass transition temperature, and decomposition temperature.

Tuning the Carbon Dioxide Absorption in Amino Acid Ionic Liquids

ChemSusChem, 2016
AbstractOne of the possible solutions to prevent global climate change is the reduction of CO2 emissions, which is highly desired for the sustainable development of our society. In this work, the chemical absorption of carbon dioxide in amino acid ionic liquids was studied through first‐principles methods.

Tetraalkylammonium amino acids as functionalized ionic liquids of low viscosity

Chem. Commun., 2008
Four of nine tetraalkylammonium-based amino-acid ionic liquids prepared in this work show lower viscosities than all amino acid-based ionic liquids found in the literature and their reversible CO(2) absorption approaches 0.5 mol per mol ionic liquid.

Novel amino acids based ionic liquids analogues: Acidic and basic amino acids

Journal of the Taiwan Institute of Chemical Engineers, 2016
Abstract Deep eutectic solvents (DES) are one of the immerging promising industrial green solvents that are gaining considerable attention. These novel liquids have been synthesized from a variety of quaternary ammonium and phosphonium salts in combination with one or more complexing agents.

Study on the Properties of Amino Acid Ionic Liquid EMIGly

The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2006
In terms of standard addition method, the density and surface tension of an amino acid ionic liquid EMIGly(1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium aminoacetate) were measured under dry argon atmosphere in the temperature range of 288.15-343.15 K. The properties of volume and surface for pure EMIGly were discussed in terms of the interstice model and Glasser's ...
