Amino acid based ionic liquids: A green and sustainable perspective
Current Opinion in Green and Sustainable Chemistry, 2016Abstract Chiral and highly functionalized natural amino acids are readily available by renewable methods in high quantities. They can be easily converted into both anions and cations for the synthesis of ionic liquids. This mini review describes the synthesis of amino acid derived ionic liquids (AAILs) with a focus on the most recent developments ...

Amino Acid-Based Fluorescent Chiral Ionic Liquid for Enantiomeric Recognition
Analytical Chemistry, 2010We report on the synthesis and characterization of a new fluorescent chiral ionic liquid (FCIL), l-phenylalanine ethyl ester bis(trifluoromethane) sulfonimide (l-PheC(2)NTf(2)), capable of serving simultaneously as solvent, chiral selector, and fluorescent reporter in chiral analytical measurements.

Slightly Viscous Amino Acid Ionic Liquids: Synthesis, Properties, and Calculations
The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2009Slightly viscous N-alkyl-substituted glycine ester ionic liquids were prepared via alkylation of glycine ethyl esters with appropriate haloalkanes followed by anion exchange with lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)amide. These ionic liquids have been characterized by IR, NMR, elemental analysis, thermal stability, phase behavior, viscosity, and ...

Molecular simulation of imidazolium amino acid-based ionic liquids
Molecular Simulation, 2010A series of 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium amino acid ionic liquids (ILs) [Cnmim][Gly] were studied by molecular simulations based on the all-atom force field. Volume expansivity and heat capacities for [C2mim][Gly] were calculated for validating the force field. Site-to-site and centre-of-mass radial distribution functions were investigated to depict the

Microscopic characterization of amino acid ionic liquids - water mixtures
Journal of Molecular Liquids, 2017Abstract The properties of ionic liquids containing glycinate anion and 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium or cholinium or methylpiperazinium cation mixed with water were studied in the full composition range in this manuscript. Relevant thermodynamic properties, such as excess molar volume or self-diffusion coefficients, were predicted to infer deviations ...

Novel amino acid‐based ionic liquid analogues: neutral hydroxylic and sulfur‐containing amino acids
Asia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2016AbstractDeep eutectic solvents (DESs) have shown potential promise for various industrial applications. Abundant research works were carried out on Type III DES employing choline chloride as the quaternary ammonium salt in combination with a variety of hydrogen bond donors (HBDs).

Performance of d-amino acid oxidase in presence of ionic liquids
Journal of Biotechnology, 2006The activity and stability of free and immobilized D-amino acid oxidase (DAAO, EC 1.4.3.3) from Trigonopsis variabilis CBS 4095 in different water-soluble and water-insoluble ionic liquids (ILs) as well as in organic solvents were studied for comparison. The most promising ILs ([BMIM][BF(4)] and [MMIM][MMPO(4)]) were investigated in detail. The kinetic

Vibrational Spectra Simulations in Amino Acid-Based Imidazolium Ionic Liquids
The Journal of Physical Chemistry BWe present maximally localized Wannier functions and Voronoi tessellation to obtain dipole moment distributions for vibrational spectra in several important ionic liquids calculated by using ab initio molecular dynamics simulations. IR and Raman spectra of various imidazolium-based ionic liquids (ILs) paired with six amino acid anions are shown herein.
