AHL-differential quorum sensing regulation of amino acid metabolism in Hafnia alvei H4

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
Quorum sensing (QS) regulation of functional metabolites is rarely reported but a common trait of some bacteria. In this study, we found that QS promoted the extracellular accumulation of glycine and serine while inhibiting the extracellular accumulation

Predicting post-absorptive protein and amino acid metabolism

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Zootecnia, 2018
Sustainable production of adequate quantities of food to support a growing human population is a worldwide goal. Under current feeding conditions in the United States, dairy cattle convert dietary nitrogen to milk nitrogen with 25% efficiency.

Reprogramming of Amino Acid Metabolism in Pancreatic Cancer: Recent Advances and Therapeutic Strategies

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2020
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is one of the most fatal malignancies with an extremely poor prognosis. Energy metabolism reprogramming, an emerging hallmark of cancer, has been implicated in the tumorigenesis and development of pancreatic cancer.

Transcriptome analyses reveal reduced hepatic lipid synthesis and accumulation in more feed efficient beef cattle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
peer-reviewedThe genetic mechanisms controlling residual feed intake (RFI) in beef cattle are still largely unknown. Here we performed whole transcriptome analyses to identify differentially expressed (DE) genes and their functional roles in liver ...

Multi‐omic profiling of squamous cell lung cancer identifies metabolites and related genes associated with squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using multi‐omic characterization, we aimed to identify key regulators specific to squamous cell lung carcinoma (SqCC). SqCC‐specific differentially expressed genes were integrated with metabolics data. High expression of the creatine transporter SLC6A8, along with elevated creatine levels, appeared to be a distinct metabolic feature of SqCC.

Urinary Screening for Aminoacidurias Using Chromatography and Serum Amino Acid Profile in Type 2 Diabetes and Healthy Controls

open access: yesBiochemistry Research International
Type 2 diabetes is a complex metabolic disorder characterised by altered amino acid metabolism. This study investigates plasma amino acid profiles and specific aminoacidurias in patients with type 2 diabetes.

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

The significant role of amino acid metabolic reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesCell Communication and Signaling
Amino acid metabolism plays a pivotal role in tumor microenvironment, influencing various aspects of cancer progression. The metabolic reprogramming of amino acids in tumor cells is intricately linked to protein synthesis, nucleotide synthesis ...
