Cloning and Expression Analysis of Clock Genes During Ovarian Development and Maturation of Tongue Sole (Cynoglossus semilaevis)

open access: yesProgress in Fishery Sciences
Clock genes play a pivotal role in the rhythm maturation of bony fish ovaries. To explore the role of clock genes in the rhythmic ovarian development and maturation of tongue sole (Cynoglossus semilaevis), we used real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR ...

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Synthesis of a cyclen-functionalized alpha-amino acid and its incorporation into peptide sequence

open access: yes, 2005
A cyclen-functionlized alpha-amino acid was obtained through embedding cyclen into the side chain of homoserine. The a-amino acid can be conveniently incorporated into peptide sequence to form new ligands, which have strong coordination ability for ...

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Accurate prediction of substitution rates at protein sites with a mutation-selection model

open access: yesScientific Reports
The pattern of substitutions at sites in proteins provides invaluable information about their biophysical and functional importance and what selection pressures are acting at individual sites.

Identification of Short Amino Acid Sequences That Correlate with Cytoplasmic Retention of Human Proteins

open access: yesCells
One group of human proteins found in the cytoplasm, but not in the nucleus, is characterized by the presence of short (6–9 aa), specific amino acid sequences thought to be involved in retaining proteins in the cytoplasm (cytoplasmic retention sequences).

Partial molecular characterization of the Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) alpha-cardiac muscle actin gene and its relationship to actin isoforms of other fish species

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology, 2007
An alpha actin gene segment, isolated from Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), was characterized by nucleotide sequencing, predicted amino acid sequence and Southern blot hybridization.

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.
