Green synthesis of self-oriented flower-like Ag@Ag2O nanostructures functionalized with L-Tryptophan for colorimetric simultaneous determination of ultra-trace level of thiamin and riboflavin

open access: yesAmino Acids
The study focuses on the green synthesis of Ag@Ag2O nanostructures using Padina algae extract and functionalizing them with L-tryptophan to enhance their properties as a colorimetric sensor for simultaneous detection of ultra-trace levels of thiamin and ...

Systematic profiling of cancer‐fibroblast interactions reveals drug combinations in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Fibroblasts, cells in the tumor environment, support ovarian cancer cell growth and alter morphology and drug response. We used fibroblast and cancer cell co‐culture models to test 528 drugs and discovered new drugs for combination treatment. We showed that adding Vorinostat or Birinapant to standard chemotherapy may improve drug response, suggesting ...

Molecular imaging predicts trastuzumab‐deruxtecan (T‐DXd) response in head and neck cancer xenograft models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Trastuzumab‐deruxtecan, a HER2‐targeting antibody‐drug conjugate, shows promising antitumor activity in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma with low HER2 expression. In vitro and in vivo studies demonstrated dose‐dependent cell death and tumor growth reduction in low HER2‐expressing cell lines, which correlated with drug accumulation measured using a

Pharmacokinetics of L-theanine and the effect on amino acid composition in mice administered with L-theanine

open access: yesAmino Acids
L-theanine, an amino acid component of the tea leaves of Camellia sinensis, is sold in Japan as a supplement for good sleep. Although several studies in humans and mice have reported the effects of L-theanine on brain function, only a few reports have ...

Amino-acids in Soil [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1950
ALTHOUGH the protein nature of at least one-third of the organic nitrogen of soil has been established1,2, very little is known of the amino-acid composition of this protein material. The isolation of amino-acids from soil hydrolysates is rendered difficult by the presence of large amounts of extraneous inorganic and organic material.

EMT‐associated bias in the Parsortix® system observed with pancreatic cancer cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The Parsortix® system was tested for CTC enrichment using pancreatic cancer cell lines with different EMT phenotypes. Spike‐in experiments showed lower recovery of mesenchymal‐like cells. This was confirmed with an EMT‐inducible breast cancer cell line.

Application of nitrogen metabolism in autotrophic bacteria to chemosynthetic bioregeneration in space missions, supplement [PDF]

open access: yes
The chemolithotroph, Hydrogenomonas eutropha, was considered as a life support, bioregenerative system. This project focuses on several metabolic functions that are related to the proposed nitrogen cycle between man and this microbe.

Identification and characterization of endogenous biomarkers for hepatic vectorial transport (OATP1B3-P-gp) function using metabolomics with serum pharmacology

open access: yesAmino Acids
The organic anion-transporting polypeptide 1B3 and P-glycoprotein (P-gp) provide efficient directional transport (OATP1B3-P-gp) from the blood to the bile that serves as a key determinant of hepatic disposition of the drug.
