Regulation of autophagy by amino acids and MTOR-dependent signal transduction
Amino acids not only participate in intermediary metabolism but also stimulate insulin-mechanistic target of rapamycin (MTOR)-mediated signal transduction which controls the major metabolic pathways.

Behavioral and functional studies describe hemispheric asymmetry in anxiety and metabolic behaviors in responses to stress. However, no study has reported serotonergic receptor (the 5-HT1A receptor) lateralization in the basolateral amygdala (BLA) in ...

Theoretical prevision of physical chemical properties of amino acids from genetic code [PDF]
Using the crystal basis model of the genetic code, a set of relations between the physical-chemical properties of the amino acids are derived and compared with the experimental data. A prevision for the not yet measured thermodynamical parameters of three amino acids is done.

Kinetic analysis of D-Alanine upon oral intake in humans
D-Alanine, a rare enantiomer of alanine, can potentially alleviate the worsening of viral infections and maintain circadian rhythm. This study aimed to analyze the kinetics of D-Alanine upon oral intake.

Nature's Starships II: Simulating the Synthesis of Amino Acids in Meteorite Parent Bodies
Carbonaceous chondrite meteorites are known for having high water and organic material contents, including amino acids. Here we address the origin of amino acids in the warm interiors of their parent bodies (planetesimals) within a few million years of ...

Understanding conserved amino acids in proteins [PDF]
It has been conjectured that evolution exerted pressure to preserve amino acids bearing thermodynamic, kinetic, and functional roles. In this letter we show that the physical requirement to maintain protein stability gives rise to a sequence conservatism pattern that is in remarkable agreement with that found in natural proteins.
