Amino Acids and Proteins

2014
Amino acids and protein are key factors for growth. The neonatal period requires the highest intake in life to meet the demands. Those demands include amino acids for growth, but proteins and amino acids also function as signalling molecules and function as neurotransmitters.

Amino Acids

2013
Neonatologists' ultimate goal is to achieve a functional outcome in preterm infants that is comparable to outcomes in healthy term-born infants. Current guidelines recommend the initiation of amino acid administration as soon as possible in the first postnatal day at a dose of 2-3 g/kg/day.

Prevalent intrinsic emission from nonaromatic amino acids and poly(amino acids)

Science China Chemistry, 2017
Nonaromatic amino acids are generally believed to be nonemissive, owing to their lack of apparently remarkable conjugation within individual molecules.

Amino-acids in Legumes

Nature, 1952
IN the course of analyses of vegetable foods with the view of evolving an entirely vegetable dietary which would be optimal in respect of protein, determinations of essential amino-acids were carried out on two legumes, Mysore dhal or lentil (Lens esculenta], and green gram or mung (Phaseolus vulgaris, Roxburgh).

Purity of amino acids

Analytical Biochemistry, 1970
Abstract A simple, rapid, and sensitive method is described for the semiquantitative determination of contaminating amino acids in amino acid preparations. The dry amino acid powders were assayed directly by microbiological plate assay methods for amino acids.

Amino Acids and Respiration

Annals of Internal Medicine, 1983
Parenteral nutrition containing glucose and amino acids may stimulate respiration. To ascertain the effects of these solutions on respiration, eight normal subjects received an infusion of 5% dextrose (100 mL/h) for 7 days followed by an infusion of 3.5% amino acids (125 mL/h) for 24 hours.

Amino-acids in Anthracite

Nature, 1958
A TOPIC of current interest in palaeo-biochemistry is the demonstration of chemical constituents in fossils from the earliest plant and animal life. It has been shown that bones of great archaeological age may contain appreciable amounts of organic nitrogen1,2.

Amino Acids in Beer

2009
Abstract Nitrogenous compounds are considered very important in beer playing a key role in determining the quality and stability of the finished product. They include amino acids, peptides, polypeptides, proteins, nucleic acids and their degradation products.

Amino Acid Analysis

Current Protocols in Protein Science, 2009
AbstractAmino acid analysis is used to determine the amino acid content of amino acid–, peptide‐ and protein‐containing samples. With minor exceptions, proteins are long linear polymers of amino acids connected to each other via peptide bonds. The first step of amino acid analysis involves hydrolyzing these peptide bonds.

Characteristics of Amino Acids

Current Protocols in Protein Science, 1996
AbstractThe physical properties of the amino acids determine the structure and function of the proteins in which they are found. This appendix presents some useful details and relevant physical characteristics of the natural amino acids and modified amino acids (i.e., chemical structures, explanations of the role these structures play in enzymes ...
