The photodecomposition of aminopterin
Journal of Immunological Methods, 1987Aminopterin is used in cell fusion experiments to select for hybrid cells by killing unfused cells which are deficient in enzymes for nucleotide salvage pathways. Aqueous aminopterin solutions exposed to fluorescent room light (wavelength greater than 300 nm) were found to lose cytotoxicity.

An aminopterin‐like syndrome without aminopterin (ASSAS)
Clinical Genetics, 1987In two patients that closely resembled the phenotype of the syndrome produced by aminopterin in early pregnancy, no evidence of maternal exposure could be elicited. These, plus two similar cases from the literature, suggest the existence of an “aminopterin‐like syndrome sine aminopterin” (ASSA) syndrome.

Further case of aminopterin syndrome sine aminopterin in a Spanish child
American Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, 2000We report on a Spanish child with clinical manifestations suggestive of aminopterin syndrome sine aminopterin (ASSA), having unusual hair pattern, syndactyly of fingers and toes, low-set thumbs, high-arched palate, and mild developmental delay. However, he does not show other characteristic features of ASSA such as ossification defects of the cranium ...
