The Ammonia Flame [PDF]

open access: bronzeNature, 1912
WITH reference to Mr. Egerton's interesting letter in NATURE of May 16, my colleague, Prof. Fowler, reminds me that he photographed the spectrum of the ammonia flame at the time that we were investigating the spectrum of the active nitrogen glow. Although the general colour of the flame is not unlike that of the nitrogen glow, he found nothing really ...

Ammonia---not the culprit [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Disease in Childhood, 2001
Editor,—We were interested to read the article by Kerr et al on the SIDS problem. With regard to the interesting results we would like to point out some related findings. As pointed out by Kerr …

Neurotoxicity of Ammonia [PDF]

open access: yesNeurochemical Research, 2016
Abnormal liver function has dramatic effects on brain functions. Hyperammonemia interferes profoundly with brain metabolism, astrocyte volume regulation, and in particular mitochondrial functions. Gene expression in the brain and excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmission circuits are also affected. Experiments with a number of pertinent animal models

Autophagy and ammonia [PDF]

open access: yesAutophagy, 2012
Autophagy plays an important role in the cellular response to a variety of metabolic stress conditions thus contributing to the maintenance of intracellular homeostasis. Studies in yeast have defined the genetic components involved in the initiation of autophagy as well as the progression through the autophagic cascade.

Ammonia–triphenylborane [PDF]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E Structure Reports Online, 2011
The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(18)H(18)BN or (C(6)H(5))(3)B·NH(3), comprises two crystallographically independent but virtually identical mol-ecules. Mol-ecules of one type are linked with each other by N-H⋯π inter-actions, generating an infinite column aligned along the b-axis direction.

Determination of Blood Ammonia Using the Ammonia Checker [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical Biochemistry: International Journal of Laboratory Medicine, 1983
A new diffusion method employing bromocresol green for determination of blood ammonia (Ammonia CheckerR) using disposable reagent test-plates and a pocket-size colorimeter with direct readout of results was compared with an enzymatic method. The values obtained with the Ammonia Checker were slightly lower than those with the enzymatic method.

Unveiling unique protein and phosphorylation signatures in lung adenocarcinomas with and without ALK, EGFR, and KRAS genetic alterations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Proteomic and phosphoproteomic analyses were performed on lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) tumors with EGFR, KRAS, or EML4–ALK alterations and wild‐type cases. Distinct protein expression and phosphorylation patterns were identified, especially in EGFR‐mutated tumors. Key altered pathways included vesicle transport and RNA splicing.
