NITRIDATION OF SILICON WITH AMMONIA AND NITROGEN
International Journal of Nanoscience, 2010Silicon nitride and silicon oxynitride are materials used extensively in mechanical and electronic devices due to their outstanding properties. Thin films of silicon nitride and silicon oxynitride can be deposited on a silicon surface. In this study, nitridation of silicon wafers by a rapid thermal heating process with both nitrogen and ammonia as ...

The International Journal of Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 1981
Abstract The effects of NO and O2 on the decomposition of NH3 were studied at low concentrations (300–900 ppm) in N2 under irradiation by electron beams of 1.5 MeV energy at 120°C. The NH3 was decomposed to H2 and N2 in N2, with a G-value of 1.3. In the presence of NO(800 ppm) or O2 (5%), the NH3 decomposition was much enhanced (G-values were 3.1 and

Assimilation of Ammonia Nitrogen by Rumen Bacteria
Nature, 1959AMMONIA is always present in the rumen liquor of sheep1 and the concentration varies with the kind of protein in the ration, but the addition of starch-rich foods such as maize meal or flaked maize to high-protein rations depresses the concentration2–4.

Efficient nitrogen fixation to ammonia on MXenes
Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2018Nitrogen can be easily adsorbed onto the surfaces of Mo 2 C and W 2 C MXenes, and then the nitrogen is effectively converted to ammonia.

On the rotation of ammonia and the ammonia chlorine complex in solid nitrogen
Chemical Physics, 1976Abstract Th ν3 and ν4 regions of ammonia and the ammonia chlorine complex in solid nitrogen at temperatures below ca. 15 K show a fine structure which disappears reversibly as the temperature is increased to ca. 20 K. The low temperature spectrum is interpreted in terms of a hindered rotation around the C3 axis of ammonia.

Microassay for ammonium by determination of ammonia nitrogen in a nitrogen analyzer
Analytical Biochemistry, 1985The method described comprises the transformation of ammonium into ammonia, the rapid and gentle liberation of the ammonia followed by the measurement of the nitrogen in a Dohrmann nitrogen analyzer. Untreated biological samples (1-50 microliters) were pipetted onto magnesium oxide tablets at 130 degrees C and the ammonia liberated was transferred by a

Ammonia liquor as a nitrogenous fertilizer
Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 1956AbstractOn grassland, raw ammonia liquor from gasworks (0.75–2.30% N) may be a useful source of nitrogen. In a large series of experiments it was not so effective as ammonium sulphate. Precautions must be taken to avoid scorching the grass with the liquor, as such scorch has very serious effects.

Reaction of active nitrogen with ammonia
Canadian Journal of Chemistry, 1967The reaction of 14N-active nitrogen with 15N-ammonia produces only N2 and H2. The nitrogen is exclusively 14N15N. It is concluded that the primary process [Formula: see text](where N2* is probably in the A3Σu+state, or a vibrationally excited X1Σg+ state) is followed by the secondary reactions [Formula: see text] [Formula: see text]which consume ...

Photocatalyst Converts Nitrogen To Ammonia
Chemical & Engineering News Archive, 2015By taking cues from two biological processes, researchers have made a catalytic material that converts nitrogen to ammonia when irradiated by white light (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2015, DOI: 10.1021/ja512491v). The new strategy may one day help scientists achieve energy savings in various catalytic processes by capitalizing on abundant sunlight to produce ...
