Low-Melting Hybrid Thermoplastics of Ammonium Polyphosphate

Russian Journal of Physical Chemistry B
In the interaction of high-molecular ammonium polyphosphate with polyethylene polyamine, thermoplastic polymers with Tg = 46.3–50.7°C, Tsoft= 43–92°C, Tflow= 85–152°C are obtained. Thermal, heat resistance, moisture resistance, and the degree of crystallinity depending on the concentration of polyethylene polyamine are measured. The bending strength of

Mechanism of fire retardancy of polyurethanes using ammonium polyphosphate

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2001
AbstractIn this work, we studied the mechanism of the fire retardancy of ammonium polyphosphate (APP) in polyurethane (PU). Indeed, according to the limiting oxygen index test, the efficiency of APP in PU coating was proven. On the one hand, thermogravimetric analyses showed that the addition of APP to PU accelerates the decomposition of the matrix but

Ammonium Polyphosphate with Crystalline Form V by Ammonium Dihydrogen Phosphate Process

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2010
Ammonium polyphosphate (APP) with crystalline form V (APP-V) was prepared through the reaction of ammonium dihydrogen phosphate and urea at high temperature and under dry ammonia atmosphere. Effects such as raw material ratios, ammoniation, condensation temperature, and condensation time were examined.

Hydrogels containing modified ammonium polyphosphate for fireproof materials

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2021
AbstractHydrogels containing a large amount of water have been widely studied as fireproof materials. However, the organic networks that composed the gel easily burns as water evaporates. In this work, the widely used intumescent flame‐retardant ammonium polyphosphate was modified by carbon–carbon double bonds (abbreviated as MAPP) and introduced in ...

Study on Crystalline Transformation in Preparation of Ammonium Polyphosphate

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
Ammonium polyphosphate (APP) has six crystalline forms, different crystalline forms can transform from one form to another. In this paper, the effect of crystalline seed on crystalline transformation is investigated, results show that adding crystalline seed APP II at higher temperature is helpful to form APP II.

Liquid Ammonium Polyphosphate as a Fish Pond Fertilizer

Transactions of the American Fisheries Society, 1980
Abstract Sunfish ponds were fertilized 11 times during the growing season with liquid ammonium polyphosphate (N-P2O3-K2 O:13–38-0) at 5.6, 11.2, or 22.4 kg/hectare per application. Net production of sunfish averaged 310, 315, and 418 kg/hectare in the low, medium, and high treatments, respectively.

Preparation of Ammonium Polyphosphate Form II from the System of Ammonium Orthophosphate-Urea

Bulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan, 2000
Abstract Ammonium polyphosphate (APP) form II was prepared by heating of a mixture of ammonium orthophosphates (triammonium, diammonium, and monoammonium orthophosphates) and urea at 280 to 300 °C under wet ammonia, which was made by passing air through 3 to 5% aqueous ammonia.

Effect of the surface modification of ammonium polyphosphate on the structure and property of melamine–formaldehyde resin microencapsulated ammonium polyphosphate and polypropylene flame retardant composites

Polymer Bulletin, 2015
Two kinds of ammonium polyphosphate (APP) including untreated APP and surface-modified APP treated by a silane coupling agent were microencapsulated by MF resin. Then PP/MCAPP flame-retardant material was prepared. The results indicated that the coating of MF microencapsulated surface-modified APP was more uniform and complete, and its thermal ...

Smoke suppression by ammonium polyphosphate in poly(acrylonitrile) combustion

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1982
AbstractThe influence of ammonium polyphosphate (APP) on the smoke emission of poly(acrylonitrile) (PAN) has been examined, and its mechanism of action as a smoke suppressant agent has been investigated. Smoke density and corresponding residual char data, as a function of temperature, were obtained in order to characterize the smoke propensity of PAN ...

The effect of ammonium polyphosphate on the mechanism of thermal degradation of polyureas

Journal of Polymer Science: Polymer Chemistry Edition, 1983
AbstractThe thermal decomposition of structurally related N–H and N,N′‐disubstituted polyureas (Table I) and their mixtures with ammonium polyphosphate (APP) was investigated by thermogravimetry (TG) and direct pyrolysis in a mass spectrometer (MS).
