Amorphophallus: New insights into pollen morphology and the chemical nature of the pollen wall

Grana, 2016
In pollen characters, Amorphophallus is one of the most diverse genera in the Araceae. The present work is a critical survey of contradicting reports on the impact of acetolysis treatment on Amorphophallus pollen, on the chemical nature of the outer pollen wall layer and of electron-dense (dark) granules found within it.

Amorphophallus ravenii, a New Species of Amorphophallus (Araceae) from Laos

Novon: A Journal for Botanical Nomenclature, 2018
Amorphophallus ravenii V. D. Nguyen & Hett., a new species of Araceae, is described from material collected in Vang Vieng District, Vientiane Province, Laos. This species is similar to A. khammouanensis A. Galloway and A. croatii Hett. & A. Galloway, but differs by having an appendix about half the length of the male zone, stigmas about 1.5 times as ...

Phylogenetic trends in the evolution of inflorescence odours in Amorphophallus

Phytochemistry, 2017
The chemical composition of inflorescence odours of 80 species of Amorphophallus (Araceae) were determined by headspace-thermal desorption GC-MS. When compared to published molecular phylogenies of the genus, the data reveal evidence both of phylogenetic constraint and plasticity of odours.

Notes on the genusAmorphophallus(Araceae) – 13. Evolution of pollen ornamentation and ultrastructure inAmorphophallusandPseudodracontium

Grana, 2005
A strict consensus tree based on chloroplast and nuclear sequences (rbcL, matK, trnL, FLint2) from 46 Amorphophallus species, two Pseudodracontium species and six outgroups is used to develop a hypothesis for the evolution of ornamentation and ectexine ultrastructure in the pollen of Amorphophallus.
