Tuning Metamaterials by using Amorphous Magnetic Microwires [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
AbstractIn this work, we demonstrate theoretically and experimentally the possibility of tuning the electromagnetic properties of metamaterials with magnetic fields by incorporating amorphous magnetic microwires. The large permeability of these wires at microwave frequencies allows tuning the resonance of the metamaterial by using magnetic fields of ...

Consequences of aging on ferromagnetic amorphous Fe75Si10B15 microwires for advanced inductive applications

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2019
Amorphous ferromagnetic microwires fabricated by water-quenching have been assessed to show favorable properties for next-generation high-frequency electric machines as compared to those of conventional amorphous magnetic alloys in sheet or ribbon form ...

Fast Magnetization Switching in Amorphous Microwires

open access: yesActa Physica Polonica A, 2014
We studied the magnetization switching in magnetically bistable amorphous ferromagnetic microwires. We observed quite fast domain wall propagation along the microwires and a correlation between the magnetoelastic anisotropy, distribution of the local nucleation eld along the length of microwire and the domain wall dynamics.

Off-Diagonal Magnetoimpedance in Annealed Amorphous Microwires with Positive Magnetostriction: Effect of External Stresses

open access: yesMagnetism, 2023
It was observed recently that the giant magnetoimpedance (GMI) effect in Fe-rich glass-coated amorphous microwires with positive magnetostriction can be improved significantly by means of post-annealing.

Measurements of Stray Magnetic Fields of Fe-Rich Amorphous Microwires Using a Scanning GMI Magnetometer

open access: yesMetals, 2023
A scanning magnetometer based on a magnetoimpedance sensor with a 1 mm spatial resolution and 10 nT sensitivity was used to study stray magnetic fields of Fe74B13Si11C2 amorphous ferromagnetic microwires.

The Influence of Internal Stress on the Nanocrystal Formation of Amorphous Fe73.8Si13B9.1Cu1Nb3.1 Microwires and Ribbons

open access: yesCrystals, 2022
The early stages of nanocrystallization in amorphous Fe73.8Si13B9.1Cu1Nb3.1 ribbons and microwires were compared in terms of their internal stress effects. The microstructure was investigated by the X-ray diffraction method.

Mechanical Stress Dependence of the Switching Field in Amorphous Microwires

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2015
Glass-coated magnetic microwires belong to a unique rank among materials that have high potential to be used in new technologies. We have studied the possibility to employ amorphous bistable microwires as a sensor for bending of carbon fiber composite. The measurement of switching time instead of switching field drastically increases the sensitivity of

Giant magnetoimpedance effect at GHz frequencies in amorphous microwires [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2019
Studies of magnetic properties and GMI effect of amorphous Co-Fe rich microwires reveal that they present GMI effect at GHz frequencies. Magnetic field dependences of GMI effect are affected by the post-processing conditions.
