AmpC cephalosporinases in Escherichia coli
Escherichia coli is an important pathogen causing nosocomial infections. A significant problem in the treatment of infections caused by these microorganisms is their increasing resistance to β-lactam antibiotics, including third and fourth generation cephalosporins.

The worldwide spread of extended spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)- and AmpC β-lactamase (AmpC)-producing Escherichia coli poses serious threats to public health. Swine farms have been regarded as important reservoirs of ESBL/AmpC-EC.

Docking for fragment inhibitors of AmpC β-lactamase [PDF]
Fragment screens for new ligands have had wide success, notwithstanding their constraint to libraries of 1,000–10,000 molecules. Larger libraries would be addressable were molecular docking reliable for fragment screens, but this has not been widely accepted.
