Role of Low-Molecular-Mass Penicillin-Binding Proteins, NagZ and AmpR in AmpC β-lactamase Regulation of Yersinia enterocolitica

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, 2017
Yersinia enterocolitica encodes a chromosomal AmpC β-lactamase under the regulation of the classical ampR-ampC system. To obtain a further understanding to the role of low-molecular-mass penicillin-binding proteins (LMM PBPs) including PBP4, PBP5, PBP6 ...

Rapid detection of plasmid-mediated AmpC-producers by eazyplex® SuperBug AmpC assay compared to whole-genome sequencing

open access: yesJournal of Microbiological Methods
Current methods for plasmid-mediated AmpC β-lactamase (pAmpC) detection in routine microbiological laboratories are based on various phenotypic tests. Eazyplex®SuperBug AmpC assay is a molecular assay based on isothermal amplification for rapid detection of the most common pAmpC types from bacterial culture: CMY-2 group, DHA, ACC and MOX.

Database for the ampC alleles in Acinetobacter baumannii

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2017
Acinetobacter baumannii is a troublesome opportunistic pathogen with a high capacity for clonal dissemination. We announce the establishment of a database for the ampC locus in A. baumannii, in which novel ampC alleles are differentiated based on the occurrence of ≥ 1 nucleotide change, regardless of whether it is silent or missense.

Detection of AmpC Beta-lactamases among Escherichia coli isolates at a tertiary care hospital in Karnataka [PDF]

open access: yesAl Ameen Journal of Medical Sciences, 2013
Background & objective: AmpC β-lactamases are clinically significant because they may confer resistance to a wide variety of β-lactam drugs, including α-methoxy-β-lactams, such as cefoxitin, narrow-, expanded- and broad-spectrum cephalosporins, β-lactam ...

Molecular Study of Plasmid Genes Ampc of Acinetobacter baumannii Isolated from Clinical Cases Using Multiplex PCR

open access: yesJournal of Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences, 2017
Background and purpose: Acinetobacter baumannii is an opportunistic pathogen that remains persistent in the environment for a long time. The eradication of this bacteria is difficult, since it has the ability to acquire antibiotic resistance. The aims of

Co-occurrence and importance of AmpC and extended-spectrum beta-lactamases-producing gram-negative bacilli in clinical specimens at a Tertiary Hospital in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

open access: yesBulletin of the National Research Centre
Background Third-generation cephalosporin-resistant and carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales are threatening global public health. We investigated the presence of class C beta-lactamase (AmpC) and extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) producers and ...

Detection of AmpC-β-lactamases producing isolates among carbapenem resistant P. aeruginosa isolated from burn patient

open access: yesIranian Journal of Microbiology, 2014
Background  and  Objectives: Pseudomonas  aeruginosa is responsible for devastating nosocomial infections among severely burn patients. Class C of cephalosporinase (AmpC-β-lactamases) is important cause of multiple β-lactam resistance in P.

Isolation and characterization of bacteriophage against clinical isolates of AmpC beta lactamase-Producing Klebsiella pneumoniae from hospital wastewater.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
BackgroundThe increasing incidence of AmpC β-lactamase producing by K. pneumoniae has raised global alarm. Consequently, there is a crucial need for effective methods to inactivate pathogenic bacteria and mitigate the associated risks.
