Harnessing the Folding of Antitumor Peptides for Controlled Carrier‐Free Drug Delivery

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A disulfide‐bridged stapled p53 α‐helix co‐assembled with doxorubicin into protease‐resistant nanocomplexes. Reductive intracellular conditions induced helix refolding and nanostructure disassembly, which enabled the coordinated release of the chemotherapeutic agent and anticancer peptide.

Interface‐Directed Self‐Assembly of Thermoresponsive Block Copolymers for Tunable Interfacial Nanostructures

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Surface pressure and temperature direct the assembly of P(NIPAM‐b‐AEMA) at the air‐water interface, transforming continuous films into tunable micellar nanodomains. The thermoresponsive P(NIPAM) block enables temperature‐controlled changes in domain size and order.

Self‐Assembling Gemini‐Type Amphiphiles From Helix‐Loop‐Helix Peptides

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Peptide particles are formed through self‐assembly of amphiphilic helix‐loop‐helix peptides. Depending on the preparation method, two different particle morphologies can be obtained: nanospheres or nanodiscs with α‐helical or β‐sheet structure of the monomers, respectively.

One‐Pot Fabrication of Pentapeptide Bio‐Aerogel via Direct Alcogelation

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A minimal tachykinin‐inspired pentapeptide (TC‐1) self‐assembles in water and ethanol to form robust gels that can be dried in one pot to ultra‐porous aerogels using supercritical carbon dioxide. Solvent choice programs nanoscale packing and bulk mechanics producing lightweight monoliths with high porosity for biomaterials applications, verified by ...

Reverse Micelles: The Gateway for Oral (Poly)Peptide Delivery

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
RM achieve superior oral peptide delivery through high loading capacity, strong lipophilicity, and a low‐hydration microenvironment that protects against enzymatic degradation. Meanwhile, dRM provides favorable permeation‐enhancing interactions and a consistent safety profile, collectively driving enhanced oral performance.

Bidirectional Plant‐Microneedle Responses to Guide Biomaterial Design

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
We examine bidirectional interactions between plants and polymeric microneedles to develop effective compound delivery strategies. Material chemistry and architecture determine stability in the plant environment, cargo–matrix interactions, and the magnitude and duration of the plant response. Plant microneedles should therefore be designed as a coupled

Biomaterial Platforms for Spatiotemporal Control of mRNA Delivery in Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine: Design Rules, Therapeutic Applications, and Translational Roadmap

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Biomaterial platforms can control where and when mRNA‐encoded proteins are expressed to support tissue repair. This Review proposes a cargo–target–timing framework linking therapeutic function, target tissues and cells, and expression profiles with carrier and scaffold design.

Stimuli‐responsive nanostructured hydrogen sulfide donors for enhanced cancer treatments

open access: yesSmart Molecules, EarlyView.
Three typical kinds of stimuli‐responsive nanostructured hydrogen sulfide (H2S) donors are reviewed. The nanostructures ensure precise delivery of H2S to the lesion site and regulate the release behavior. The H2S‐based gas therapy has been used to synergize with other cancer treatment modalities, achieving enhanced efficacy while reducing side effects.
