Ontogeny of the Digestive and Feeding Systems in the Anemonefish Amphiprion Melanopus

Environmental Biology of Fishes, 2001
Ontogenetic growth and development in the anemonefish Amphiprion melanopus (Pomacentridae) is very rapid when compared to other tropical and temperate fish species. A. melanopus hatched with a highly differentiated digestive tract and the ability to capture and ingest prey items.

Biochemical Study on the Carotenoids in the Anemonefish, Amphiprion spp.

1992
The carotenoid compositions of four species of wild anemonefish, Amphiprion ocellaris, A. biacleatus, A. frenatus and A. clarkii, were analyzed. Alltrans-zeaxanthin was found to be a dominant pigment followed by cis-isomers of zeaxanthin in all four species of anemonefish.

A review of the reproduction and rearing of clownfish, Amphiprion clarkii, in captivity

International Journal of Aquatic Research and Environmental Studies
Clownfishes are very popular among ornamental fish keepers due to their aesthetic appeal and easy adaptability to captive conditions. The captive breeding of these fish not only meets the market demand but also prevents the destruction of their natural habitats during fishing.
