Sound Production in the Clownfish Amphiprion clarkii [PDF]

open access: yesScience, 2007
Although clownfish sounds were recorded as early as 1930, the mechanism of sound production has remained obscure. Yet, clownfish are prolific "singers" that produce a wide variety of sounds, described as "chirps" and "pops" in both reproductive and agonistic behavioral contexts. Here, we describe the sonic mechanism of the clownfish Amphiprion clarkii.

Mitochondrial DNA genomes organization and phylogenetic relationships analysis of eight anemonefishes (pomacentridae: amphiprioninae). [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Anemonefishes (Pomacentridae Amphiprioninae) are a group of 30 valid coral reef fish species with their phylogenetic relationships still under debate. The eight available mitogenomes of anemonefishes were used to reconstruct the molecular phylogenetic ...

The complete mitochondrial genome of the Picasso clownfish: genomic comparisons and phylogenetic inference among Amphiprioninae

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2020
Picasso clownfish belong to the subfamily Amphiprioninae and are considered a variant of the genus Amphiprion. In this study, we first sequenced the complete mitochondrial genome of the Picasso clownfish by Illumina next-generation sequencing technology.

Xanthophore Distribution of Nemo (Amphiprion ocellaris) Skin Based on various Concentrations of Carotenoid Sources

open access: yesJurnal Ilmiah Perikanan dan Kelautan, 2023
The decreased color intensity of  Nemo is related to the amount of carotenoid concentration in the xanthophore of Nemo's skin. Therefore, efforts are needed to maintain stable carotenoid production. Tomato is one of the most abundant carotenoid producers.

Evaluating species at risk in data-limited fisheries: A productivity-susceptibility analysis for marine aquarium fish. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Appl
Abstract The marine aquarium trade (MAT) is a significant global industry harvesting millions of wild‐caught, live coral reef fishes for public and private aquaria markets in the United States and Europe annually, while supporting fisher livelihoods in the Indo‐Pacific.

Growth pattern, diet and reproductive biology of the clownfish Amphiprion ocellaris in waters of Pulau Tioman, Malaysia

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Aquatic Research, 2018
The growth pattern, diet and reproductive biology of the clownfish Amphiprion ocellaris collected from waters of Pulau Tioman were investigated. The length-weight relationship showed an isometric growth pattern (b = 3) in A. ocellaris.
