Research on Nanosecond High-Pulse-Energy Regenerative Amplifier with Adjustable Pulse Duration and Third Harmonic Generation

open access: yesPhotonics
We reported on a nanosecond regenerative amplified laser with a repetition rate of 1 kHz by employing laser diodes (LDs) with distinct wavelengths as both the seed laser and the pump source and utilizing Nd:YAG as the gain medium. The single-pulse energy

Development of a Class-C Power Amplifier with Diode Expander Architecture for Point-of-Care Ultrasound Systems

open access: yesMicromachines, 2019
Point-of-care ultrasound systems are widely used in ambulances and emergency rooms. However, the excessive heat generated from ultrasound transmitters has an impact on the implementation of piezoelectric transducer elements and on battery consumption ...

Brillouin amplification supports $1\times10^{-20}$ accuracy in optical frequency transfer over 1400~km of underground fibre

open access: yes, 2015
We investigate optical frequency transfer over a 1400~km loop of underground fibre connecting Braunschweig and Strasbourg. Largely autonomous fibre Brillouin amplifiers (FBA) are the only means of intermediate amplification, allowing phase-continuous ...

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Performance Comparison of Single-Pump FOPA and LRA in a 16-channel DWDM Transmission System

open access: yesElektronika ir Elektrotechnika, 2019
Raman amplifiers and Fiber optical parametric amplifiers (FOPA) are positioned as the main future leading techniques for all-optical signal amplification. Distributed Raman amplifiers are known as the least noisy, but this type of amplifiers suffers from

Noise figure measurement concept for acoustic amplifiers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1968
Optimum length buffer crystals are used with an amplification section for measuring the noise figure for acoustic amplifiers. Measuring the time required to saturate with noise a signal, which is reflected back and forth in the circuit, gives a direct ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Plasma extrachromosomal circular DNA as a biomarker in EGFR‐targeted therapy of non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Detection of extrachromosomal circular DNA (eccDNA) in plasma samples from EGFR‐mutated non‐small cell lung cancer patients. Plasma was collected before and during treatment with the EGFR‐tyrosine kinase inhibitor osimertinib. Plasma eccDNA was detected in all cancer samples, and the presence of the EGFR gene on eccDNA serves as a potential biomarker ...
