Digitizing the Filtration Interface: A Smart, Modular Janus Wood Platform for Self‐Reporting Oil/Water Remediation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work developed a smart Janus wood membrane integrating asymmetric wettability with built‐in electrical sensing for oil‐water separation. The membrane achieved > 99.5% separation efficiency and high flux by leveraging wood's natural anisotropic pore structure.

Powering Nanocrystal‐Based Heat Engines With Light‐Emitting Metasurfaces That Influence Their Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metasurfaces and other structured photonic environments can dramatically modify the absorption and/or light emission of semiconductors. However, the consequences of these changes on the temperature of the system are not well understood. The authors address this problem for colloidal nanocrystals and leverage their findings to convert light into ...

Transparent and Robust LiCl–Organohydrogel Triboelectric Nanogenerator With Deep Learning Assisted Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Develop a LiCl–PEI–PAM hydrogel with 3000% stretchability and excellent optical transparency. Through comparative studies of various salts, confirm that LiCl is the most suitable salt for high TENG output. Achieve excellent freeze‐resistant, dry‐resistant, and rapid self‐healing (10 s) properties even in extreme environments. Balance ionic conductivity,

Optical pulse compression and amplitude noise reduction using a non-linear optical loop mirror including a distributed Gires–Tournois etalon [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We propose and analyse numerically a novel dispersion-imbalanced non-linear optical loop mirror (NOLM) scheme allowing simultaneous compression and amplitude noise reduction of chirped ultrashort-pulsed signals.

On the effect of I/Q imbalance on MIMO transmit-receive diversity systems

open access: yes, 2009
In practice, all I/Q signal processing receivers face the problem of I/Q imbalance. In this paper, we investigate the effect of I/Q imbalance on the performance of MIMO maximal ratio combining (MRC) systems that perform the combining at the radio ...

Hierarchical MXene‐Derived NTP/C Nanohybrids for Cryogenic Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A hierarchical MXene‐derived NaTi2(PO4)3/C nanohybrid enables efficient sodium‐ion storage down to −40°C by integrating fast ion–electron transport pathways with an ether‐based electrolyte. The system promotes dominant pseudocapacitive behavior and forms a robust inorganic‐rich SEI, collectively mitigating kinetic and interfacial limitations, thereby ...
