Sperm Transfer Under Behavioral and Morphological Constraints in the Orb‐Web Spider Genus Argiope

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
The polygamous mating system of the orb‐web spider genus Argiope provides a model to study the evolution of sperm transfer under morphological and behavioral constraints. This helps us to understand how male and female behavioral and morphological reproductive traits influence sperm transfer.

Modeling Skin Mark Temporal Variations to Estimate the Sex of Delphinids with Low Sexual Dimorphism: Implications for Management and Conservation

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
This work aimed to apply the principles of skin mark analysis to a cetacean species to build a sex‐discrimination model exclusively based on photographic material. Relevant differences between sexes emerged in markings, with males presenting more social, aggression‐related, and fishing‐related marks overall, and a stronger tendency of mark accumulation

Differences and Commonalities of Electrical Stimulation Paradigms After Central Paralysis and Amputation

open access: yesArtificial Organs, EarlyView.
Invasive and non‐invasive functional electrical stimulation (FES) is a well‐established method to partially restore function after paralysis and deliver sensory feedback after amputation. This work summarizes the current state‐of‐the‐art of FES for restoring function, supporting rehabilitation therapy, and assistive devices.

We have conducted a literature review focusing on the most recent developments in diagnosis and management. Diagnosis is based on the demonstration of typical necrotic purpura lesions on the legs. Treatment must be initiated without delay by infusion

Inhibitory Effects of 3′,4′‐Dihydroxyflavonol in a Rabbit Model of Minimally Invasive Bleb Surgery With PreserFlo MicroShunt

open access: yesClinical &Experimental Ophthalmology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background The success of minimally invasive bleb surgery (MIBS) such as the PreserFlo MicroShunt (PFMS) is limited by post‐operative bleb fibrosis. Current clinical practice prescribes the use of off‐label cytotoxic antimetabolites such as Mitomycin C (MMC) as antifibrotic therapy.
