Not all data are equal: Influence of data type and amount in spatial conservation prioritisation

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 9, Issue 11, Page 2249-2261, November 2018., 2018
Abstract Decisions about land use significantly influence biodiversity globally. The field of spatial conservation prioritisation explores allocation of conservation effort, including for reserve network expansion, targeting habitat restoration, or minimising ecological impacts of development.

Three New Optimal Fourth‐Order Iterative Methods to Solve Nonlinear Equations

open access: yesAdvances in Numerical Analysis, Volume 2013, Issue 1, 2013., 2013
We present new modifications to Newton′s method for solving nonlinear equations. The analysis of convergence shows that these methods have fourth‐order convergence. Each of the three methods uses three functional evaluations. Thus, according to Kung‐Traub′s conjecture, these are optimal methods.

About the Structure of Attractors for a Nonlocal Chafee-Infante Problem

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
In this paper, we study the structure of the global attractor for the multivalued semiflow generated by a nonlocal reaction-diffusion equation in which we cannot guarantee the uniqueness of the Cauchy problem.

Sparse Indoor Camera Positioning with Fiducial Markers

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Accurately estimating the pose of large arrays of fixed indoor cameras presents a significant challenge in computer vision, especially since traditional methods predominantly rely on overlapping camera views.

Asymptotic behavior of a system of micropolar equations

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2016
This work is concerned with three-dimensional micropolar fluids flows in a bounded domain with boundary of class $C^{\infty}.$ Based on the theory of dissipative systems, we prove the existence of a restricted global attractors for local semiflows on ...

Do Ambitious Goals Call for Stringent Policy? The Stringency, Target Sectors, and Measures of Finland's Climate and Energy Policy in Response to EU Greenhouse Gas Emission Targets

open access: yesReview of Policy Research, Volume 43, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT This article examines how the climate and energy policy in Finland changed between the two parliamentary terms of 2015–2019 and 2019–2023, when the EU tightened its greenhouse gas emission targets. We analyze the relevant policy measures (N = 223) of five government strategic plans and evaluate their stringency, i.e., their compulsory and ...

A Strong Approximation in L2 for the Solutions of the Maxwell System With Highly Oscillating Periodic Coefficients

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, Volume 48, Issue 8, Page 9207-9224, 30 May 2025.
ABSTRACT We consider a Maxwell system on ℝ3$$ {\mathbb{R}}^3 $$ with highly oscillating periodic coefficients. It is known that the solutions converge in the weak‐ ∗$$ \ast $$ topology of L∞(0,T;L2(ℝ3))$$ {L}^{\infty}\left(0,T;\kern0.3em {L}^2\left({\mathbb{R}}^3\right)\right) $$ to the solution of a similar problem with constant coefficients given as ...

Chemostat models with Monod and Haldane consumption functions and random environmental fluctuations

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, Volume 48, Issue 7, Page 7412-7431, 15 May 2025.
In this paper, we study the asymptotic dynamics of two chemostat models with random environmental fluctuations modeled by means of real noise, where different consumption functions for the consumer species (Monod and Haldane) are taking into account. For each model, our main goal is to investigate the existence of deterministic attracting sets.

Análisis numérico de los perfiles hidrográficos

open access: yesCuadernos de Investigación Geográfica, 2013
In order to detect the neotectonic movements that have an effect on the bed of the rivers, has been developed a numeric calculus method, such method allows to analize the points of inflection or fracture of the slope existing in the longitudinal profile ...
